Benefits of lemongrass oil for health
1. For anti-dandruff drugs
The first benefit of lemongrass oil is that it can help treat dandruff. According to a 2015 study in Thailand, lemongrass oil can be used as a hair tonic.
In the study, study participants used a hair tonic containing lemongrass essential oil (Cymbopogon flexuosus) twice a day for 14 days.
At the end of the study, the amount of dandruff appeared to be drastically reduced after applying lemongrass essential oil to the hair.
2. To cure skin fungus
Several studies published in the International Journal of Nanomedicine in 2015 suggest lemongrass oil has been shown to help inhibit the growth of certain fungi, in particular Candida albicans which is the cause of yeast infection.
Unfortunately, there is a lack of research and clinical trials testing lemongrass extract oil for treating all types of fungal infections. So only the candida fungus has so far been tried to treat candidiasis.
3. As aromatherapy to relieve anxiety
There is limited evidence that the benefits of lemongrass oil as aromatherapy can reduce anxiety.
This study, published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, shows that just smelling lemongrass oil aromatherapy can reduce anxiety.
Participants in the study were divided into groups, some inhaled lemongrass oil (three or six drops) some inhaled tea tree oil (three drops).
Immediately after inhalation, the study study participants were subjected to more tests. As a result, participants who inhaled lemongrass oil experienced decreased levels of anxiety and tension compared to participants who inhaled tea tree oil.
4. Natural fragrances
Another benefit of lemongrass oil is that it can be a natural fragrance. You can add other essential oils, such as lavender oil or tea tree oil, or add other essential oils to your own perfume.
In addition, you can clean greasy dishes or pans with lemongrass oil.
Pay attention to the following before using lemongrass oil
