Playing futsal is not just a matter of showing speed and strength in kicking a ball. Even though the futsal field is not as big as a soccer field and the duration of play is shorter, you still need to master the basic skills. The reason is, different fields of course the challenges you face are different. So what futsal techniques should a player master?

In general, there are six basic skills that must be learned. The sixth are controlling the ball, dribbling, passing, receiving passes, scoring goals, and keeping the goal. Whether you are a coach, novice player, or a professional player, you can follow these futsal tips.

1. Control the ball

The main key to futsal technique is actually controlling the ball. With a limited field size and time, the ability to control the ball is the main requirement for any playing position.

Controlling the ball here means keeping the ball, your movement, and speed in sync. For that, it requires motor skills and a high level of concentration.

One way to practice controlling the ball is by juggling. This exercise is good for honing the player's dexterity, agility, balance, coordination and concentration.

2. Dribble

Once you have control of the ball, now is the time to practice dribbling. In order to be able to dribble effectively, a player must be able to maintain balance, stability, and multitasking . The reason is, when dribbling your concentration will be divided into many things. For example, the view ahead, towards the opponent, as well as the ball itself.

The technique of dribbling also includes the ability to block the opponent (shielding) which will snatch the ball out of your control. To keep the ball from being grabbed, you need strength and endurance.

So when dribbling, make sure your body is relaxed and balanced so you can change your maneuvers at any time. You should also use the front of your foot as a foothold and tread. Don't lean on your heels as your speed and coordination will decrease.

3. Pass

Passing the ball to a teammate is not an easy skill. To pass effectively, you need accuracy, precision and good tactics. You have to be able to read the situation well before you can determine when is the right time to pass the ball and to whom the ball is passed.

To pass a short distance (short pass), point your feet outward until they form a 90 degree angle. Kick the ball with your inner leg.

Meanwhile, if you want to pass long distances (long pass), add power to the kick and gouge out the ball with the inside of your heel. This is so the ball can bounce further.

4. Receive an operand

One futsal technique that is often overlooked is receiving ball passes from team members. When receiving a pass, you must be able to anticipate which direction the ball will come from.

You also have to break your concentration. Between keeping the pace in line with friends who want to pass, locking the opponent's movement and the ball with your eyes, and directly controlling the ball when it's passed.

Try to practice taking passes with your team members. Ask team members to pass in unexpected maneuvers so you can learn to read and anticipate the ball correctly.

5. Score goals

The ability to score goals requires strength, balance, accuracy, foresight, and making the right decisions. You also need to know which part of the ball to kick and which part of the foot is good for shooting into the opponent's goal.

When you want to score a goal, make sure your heels are pointing towards the target. Kick the top of the ball if you want to shoot low. Conversely, kick the bottom of the ball if you want to shoot high.

6. Keeping the goal

If you are a goalkeeper, the challenges you face are different from other players. You are in charge of the team's last line of defense.

A goalkeeper doesn't have to be tall, really. You just need sharp focus, good reflexes, upper and lower body strength, agility, and precision.

To master this futsal technique, you must be diligent in practicing catching balls, jumping and landing, and taking free kicks.
