When the baby sleeps is the time that you have been waiting for. Unfortunately, putting babies to sleep soundly is not as easy as you might think. Different sleeping hours for babies from adults often make you confused about adjusting their sleeping time. So, when your baby is able to fall asleep, you try not to make small mistakes that can wake your baby from a deep sleep.

Besides, do you know if there are many things you need to pay attention to when your baby is sleeping? Here are some things you can and shouldn't do while your baby is sleeping.

What needs to be done when the baby is sleeping

1. Watch your baby's behavior

When the baby yawns, you will think if your baby wants to sleep. Yawning can be a sign of a sleepy baby, however, there are other signs that your baby wants to sleep (especially in newborns), namely rubbing his eyes, crying, or fussing.

2. Immediately put your baby in bed whenever he is sleepy

When your baby is showing signs of wanting to sleep (drowsiness), immediately put your baby in his crib. This will familiarize the baby to fall asleep every time they are placed in the crib. By doing this, you are also helping your baby to think of the bed as a place to sleep.

3. Pay attention to your baby's safety

If the baby sleeps on your bed, sofa, or floor, immediately move your baby to a crib or a safer place. Try to sleep your baby on his back to avoid Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

Remove blankets, pillows, dolls, and other soft items from the crib or bassinet. Don't mix your sleeping baby with pets, not even dolls or pillows.

4. Breastfeed before your baby sleeps

Research shows that babies who are breastfed are less likely to die from SIDS than babies who are not breastfed.

Don't do these things while the baby is sleeping

1. Wake the baby when moving him

Often times, your baby will fall asleep in a place other than his crib, such as a car, swing, or other place. Let your little one finish his nap in the car seat, and make sure your baby is safe or not pinched. A short nap in that place is not a problem, as long as you don't let your baby sleep all night in that place.

2. Get your baby to sleep in the stroller

To make it easier for the baby to sleep, maybe you will take your little one around the house in a stroller, aka stroller . This may be done occasionally. However, don't be too often because babies who are accustomed to having to be put to sleep with "movement" will find it more difficult to sleep in a stationary place such as a crib or baby cot.

3. Hold a baby who wakes up crying in the middle of sleep

Instinctively, of course you will hold your little one who suddenly cries while sleeping to determine if your baby is hungry, thirsty, sick, or something else. However, you need to let your baby cry for a few minutes to see if your baby will calm down on his own.

If your baby is still crying for a long time (more than five minutes), go back to him and make sure your baby is okay; because in fact, crying is part of how babies learn to calm down, and it doesn't mean you ignore it.

4. Using a pacifier

Continuous use of the pacifier will make it more difficult for your baby to sleep or be fussy when not using the pacifier.
