Have you ever been faced with several choices and then immediately chose without thinking? Maybe at that time you relied on your intuition and feelings. Your intuition tells you that things will work out better if you choose that decision. Intuition can come at any time, even when you are playing chess or some other game where you have to take a step when it is your turn, it emerges and gives you an idea of what to do.
But, try asking yourself, how much do you trust your intuition? Everyone has their own intuition, but not everyone believes their intuition. However, did you know that it turns out that intuition can be explained scientifically? In fact, various studies suggest that intuition is the most appropriate answer when we are faced with several choices.
How can intuition be formed? How does intuition lead to the right decisions? Then, does everyone have the same intuitive abilities? Here is the explanation.
What is intuition?
Intuition is an idea or ideas that arise from an individual and are used as a consideration in making a decision without being preceded by deliberate analysis. The issue of intuition has been debated by philosophers and scientists since ancient Greece and it is only now that researchers know how intuition is formed and where it comes from.
Several studies have shown that intuition can help a person make the right decisions. For example, research conducted in the 1980s that involved nurses as respondents, showed that nurses who had worked for a longer period of time were able to make quick decisions but the results were good and correct. In that research, the emergence of quick decisions is called intuition.
Another study was conducted on people who were going to buy a car. From this research, consumers who collect information in advance about the car to be purchased and spend time choosing a car, turn out to be only 25% satisfied. Meanwhile, people who quickly choose the car they buy and rely on their intuition, have a higher sense of satisfaction, which is around 60%. From these studies, the scientists concluded that a person who makes choices quickly and uses his intuition more often makes the right decisions.
Where does intuition come from?
In the brain, there are two types of thinking systems, namely the conscious system and the unconscious system (subconscious). The part of the brain that regulates the human conscious system is the left brain and this system works more slowly, becomes the center of analysis, is rational, works based on facts and experiences that have happened, and everything that this system does is known to you. While the subconscious or unconscious system, governed by the right brain, works not known consciously, and produces a rapid response.
Then what about intusion? Intuition is governed by your subconscious system. Intuition actually also comes from information or experiences that you have experienced before, but the information is in your subconscious. When intuition arises then decisions are decisions that arise from your subconscious. So, intuition appears without you having to think carefully and analyze all the events that have happened, just suddenly appear.
Then should I trust my intuition?
Many people take intuition for granted. In fact, from the various studies that have been done, it shows that intuition can be the best and correct answer if you can hone it. Yes, intuition also needs sharpening. According to researchers, your intuition will change for the better over time and depending on how often you use it.
The reason you need to consider intuition is because it often "knows" what is best for you even though it cannot be consciously understood and analyzed. Experts even claim that your subconscious system already knew the correct answer before the conscious system did. So, never underestimate the intuition that arises when you are under a difficult choice. Sometimes intuition knows what to choose compared to your analysis which takes a long time.
