What is Phenindamine used for?

Phenindamine is a drug used to treat sneezing; cold; itchy, watery eyes; freckles; rash; itchy rash; and other allergy and flu symptoms.

These drugs include antihistamines. Phenindamine blocks the effects of the natural chemical histamine that occurs naturally in the body.

Phenindamine may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.

How do you use Phenindamine drugs?

Take this medication exactly according to the directions on the product packaging or your doctor's instructions. If you do not understand these instructions ask your pharmacist, nurse, or doctor to explain them to you.

Take each dose with a glass of water. Phenindamine can be taken with or without food.

Never take more medication than was prescribed. The maximum amount of phenindamine you should drink in a day is 75 mg.

How to store Phenindamine?

Store the medicine at room temperature away from light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom and freeze medication. Medicines under different brands may have different storage methods. Precautions & Warnings

What should be considered before using Phenindamine drugs?

Do not take phenindamine if you have used monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI) such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), Phenindamine (Nardil), or tranylcypromine (Parnate) in the past 14 days. Very dangerous drug interactions can occur, resulting in serious side effects. Before taking this medication, tell your doctor if you experience:

• Glaucoma or increased pressure in the eye
• Stomach ulcers
• Enlarged prostate, bladder problems or difficulty urinating
• Overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism);
• Hypertension or any kind of heart problem
• Asthma

You may not be able to take phenindamine, or need a lower dose or special supervision during treatment if you have any of the above conditions.

Is Phenindamine safe for pregnant and lactating women?

Pregnancy and breastfeeding: There is insufficient information about the safety of using pancreatin during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It is best to avoid using it if you are not diagnosed with a pancreatic disorder for which it is important to drink Phenindamine.

Side effects

What are the possible side effects of Phenindamine?

Get emergency medical help if you experience signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Other, less severe side effects may occur more frequently. Continue taking phenindamine and talk to your doctor if you experience:

• Drowsiness, tiredness, or dizziness
• Headache
• Dry mouth
• Difficulty urinating or an enlarged prostate.

Not everyone experiences the following side effects. There may be some side effects not listed above. If you have concerns about certain side effects, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Drug Interactions

What drugs can interfere with the action of the drug Phenindamine?

Although certain drugs should not be used together, in other cases two different drugs may be used together even if interactions are possible. In this case, the doctor may want to change the dose, or other warnings may be important. Tell your healthcare professional if you are taking prescription or nonprescription drugs.

Can certain foods and drinks interfere with the action of the drug Phenindamine?

Certain drugs cannot be used with meals or when eating certain foods because drug interactions can occur. Consuming alcohol or tobacco with certain drugs may also cause interactions. Discuss with a healthcare professional about using drugs with food, alcohol, or tobacco.

Use alcohol with caution. Alcohol might increase your chances of drowsiness and dizziness while you are taking phenindamine.

What health conditions can interfere with the performance of the drug Phenindamine?

In what dosages and preparations is Phenindamine available?

Tablets, as tartrate: 25 mg

What to do in an emergency or overdose?

In case of an emergency or overdose, contact the local emergency services provider (118/119) or immediately to the nearest hospital emergency department. Symptoms of a phenindamine overdose include: very drowsiness, confusion, weakness, ringing in the ears, blurred vision, dilated pupils, dry mouth, burning sensation, fever, shaking, insomnia, hallucinations, and possibly convulsions.

What should I do if I forget to take medicine or forget to take medicine?

If you forget a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. However, when it is nearing the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and return to the usual dosing schedule. Don't double the dose.
