What is Vometa used for?

Vometa is an antiemetic drug that can relieve nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, discomfort due to satiety, and stomach acid reflux (GERD). This medication is usually prescribed by doctors for short-term use. Vometa is a drug that contains the active ingredient domperidone.

Domperidone works by speeding up the process of digesting food in the stomach to continue to the intestines. That way, the nausea can be stopped. What is the dose of Vometa for children?

Oral

• The dose of Vometa for relieving nausea and vomiting in children under 12 years of age with a maximum body weight of 35 kg is 0.25 mg / kgBW taken up to three times a day. The maximum dose is 0.75 mg / kg body weight per day. In children over 12 years of age with a body weight of over 35 kg the dose is the same as in adults.

Suppositories or rectals

• The dose of Vometa to relieve nausea and vomiting in children under 12 years of age over 15 kg is 0.75 mg / kg twice a day. In children over 12 years of age with a body weight of over 35 kg the dose is the same as in adults.

In what dosages and preparations is Vometa available?

Domperidone is available in tablet, oral, and supposittoria or rectal forms. 10 mg tablets and 5 mg / 5 ml syrup (one measuring spoon).

Side effects

What are the possible side effects of Vometa?

Like other medicines, Vometa can also cause side effects. If any of the following side effects occur, STOP using the drug and tell the doctor immediately or go to the nearest hospital as it may be an allergic reaction:

• Swelling of the hands, feet, ankles, face, lips or throat.
• Narrowed airway.
• Reddish or itchy skin rash.

If you experience any of the following symptoms of side effects, STOP using Vometa and see a doctor immediately:

• Convulsions.
• Uncontrolled body movements, including irregular eyeball movements, unusual tongue movements, or shaking and muscle stiffness. This reaction may be more likely in children.
• Heart rhythm disturbances that become fast or slow.

In rare cases, Vometa can cause the following side effects:

• Excessive discharge of milk from the breast.
• Interferes with menstrual blood flow.
• Causes breast growth in men.
