Hypromellose is used to treat dry eyes. This medication belongs to a class of drugs called eye lubricants. Hypromellose can also be used to treat a number of other eye disorders, such as keratitis (inflammation of the cornea of the eye) and decreased sensitivity of the cornea. This medication will restore and maintain eye moisture, help protect the eyes from injury and infection, and reduce dry eye symptoms such as burning, itching, and irritation.
Hypromellose can also be used to moisturize hard contact lenses and artificial eyes.
How to use hypromellose?
Follow the rules given by your doctor or pharmacist before starting treatment. If you have any questions, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
To apply this remedy, wash your hands first. To avoid contamination, do not touch the inserts or allow them to touch surfaces other than the applicator.
If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using this medicine. Ask your doctor when you can change your contact lenses.
Use the applicator provided to place 1 insert into the eye, usually 1-2 times a day or as directed by your doctor.
