What drug Ertapenem?

What is ertapenem for?

Ertapenem is commonly used to treat various bacterial infections. Ertapenem is a carbapenem type antibiotic and works by stopping the growth of bacteria.

How to use ertapenem?

Ertapenem is given as an injection, usually once a day or as directed by a doctor. Dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment.

If Ertapenem is injected into a muscle, follow the directions given to the drug company to mix it with a 1% lidocaine solution. Do not inject this drug into a vein.

If you are using Ertapenem at home, follow the procedures your medical provider has taught you. Before use, check this product if Ertapenem contains particles or is discolored, or the packaging is cracked or damaged, do not use it.

Antibiotics are most effective when the drug levels in the body are at a constant level. Use this medication at equal intervals.

Continue using this medication until the prescribed treatment period is over, even if symptoms have disappeared after a few days. Stopping using the drug too early can cause bacteria to grow back and the infection to recur.

Tell the doctor if the condition does not improve or gets worse.

How to store ertapenem?

This medication is best stored at room temperature, away from direct light and damp places. Don't keep it in the bathroom. Don't freeze it. Other brands of this drug may have different storage rules. Observe the storage instructions on the product package or ask your pharmacist. Keep all medicines away from children and pets.

Do not flush medicines down the toilet or down the drain unless instructed to do so. Discard this product when it has expired or when it is no longer needed. Consult your pharmacist or local waste disposal company about how to safely dispose of your product.
