- Heartbeat very fast or very slow, strong, uneven. You may also have breathing problems such as wheezing, shortness of breath, tightness in the chest and chest pain.
- Blood clots form in the blood vessels, especially in the legs (symptoms include swelling, pain and redness in the legs), which can spread through the blood vessels to the lungs causing chest pain and difficulty breathing.

- Anesthesia
- Mefloquine and quinine, which are used to prevent or treat malaria
- Terfenadine and misolastine, antihistamines used to treat hay fever and other allergies
- Tetracosactide, used to test the glucocorticoid function of your adrenal glands (steroids)
- Certain drugs used to treat shock, such as adrenaline, ephedrine and dobutamine
