Have you adjusted your diet in such a way, but you haven't lost weight? It could be that all this time you have chosen the wrong type of food. Yes, there are some foods that taste delicious, but they secretly make you gain weight quickly. Try to remember again, are you still eating any of the following types of food?
Foods that make weight gain fast
Instead of making the body healthy, the following types of food actually cause you to gain weight quickly. Among them:
1. Foods that contain starch (flour)
Foods that contain starch (flour), such as white rice, white bread, pasta, or biscuits, are low in fiber which can hinder the digestion of food. This causes blood sugar and insulin levels in the body to increase.
The insulin hormone functions to move glucose in the blood to body fat cells. Later, these fat cells will convert the glucose into energy.
If insulin levels increase, coupled with too much carbohydrate intake, fat cells will have difficulty burning glucose into energy. As a result, fat in the body actually accumulates and causes weight gain.
2. Sweet foods and drinks
For those of you who enjoy sweet foods such as cakes, ice cream, soda, or candy, you should try reducing the portions. This type of food can be a cause of weight gain, you know!
According to the Harvard School of Public Health, 600 ml or 1.5 glasses of soda contain 15-18 teaspoons of sugar and 240 calories. In fact, the limit for daily sugar intake recommended by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia is 50 grams of sugar or the equivalent of 5-9 teaspoons.
The more sugar intake, the blood glucose level increases and is difficult to convert into energy. So don't be surprised if later the amount of fat in the body increases and the body weight continues to increase.
3. Red meat and processed
A study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition in 2010 revealed that eating large amounts of red meat has been shown to increase body weight, both in people who are normal weight and over.
Not only that, red meat and its preparations, such as sausages, also contain high saturated fat which can cause many health problems. Starting from high cholesterol, hypertension, to heart disease.
4. French fries
French fries are often used as a mainstay snack while watching TV. But unfortunately, this addicting savory salty food can also cause you to gain weight quickly.
The reason is, every 100 grams of french fries contains 312 calories which is equivalent to one serving of breakfast. Can you imagine how many portions of "breakfast" you eat each time snacking French fries?
