1. Likes to bite nails
Nail biting can spread bacteria that hide under your nails, damage your teeth and make your nails brittle and uneven due to constant biting. Even though they know that nail biting is bad, there are still many people who do it without realizing it when they are nervous or bored.
To break this habit, try to be diligent in cutting your nails to keep them short or decorate them with nail art so you think twice about nail biting.
2. Clean the cuticles
On the edge of the nail, there is a white waxy coating called the cuticle. When trimming the nails, the cuticles are also cleaned frequently, even though the wax coating can prevent the nails from getting fungal and bacterial infections that try to get between the nails. So, cuticles should not be cut. Especially if you cut it incorrectly, the cuticles can be torn and eventually cause inflammation of your fingers.

3. Wrong nail file
Filing your nails is part of the treatment, but if you file them too rough it can cause problems with your nails. Instead of making the nails smoother, they become thinner, split open, and peel off. So, avoid filing nails back and forth and too much pressure.
Likewise with toenails. It is best not to file in a curved direction as this can cause ingrown toenails.

4. Cleaning nail polish the wrong way
Painting nails with gel or acrylic nail polish can enhance their appearance. However, in the end you have to clean the nail polish. Cleaning the rest of your nail makeup with acetone and rubbing it can tear the nail bed and eventually damage the nail.
If you don't want your nails to be damaged and take months to grow back, it's best to use a cotton ball or choose a nail polish that peels off easily so it's easier to clean.
Allowing nails to use nail polish for too long, can also dry out the layers of the nails. So, leave your nails on for a week or two. After that, you can use the nail polish again.
5. Using nails to open something
Who often opens drinking cans with nails? Although it seems more practical, opening the lid of a drink or other object with the tip of the nail can make the surface of the nail uneven, broken, and damaged. So, it's better to use another object to help you open something than to use your nails that you have treated.
6. Clean something without gloves
When washing dishes or mopping floors, you often don't wear gloves. In fact, too long exposure to water and exposure to chemicals from cleaning agents can make nails swollen and dry.
