Dehydration makes you feel very thirsty. Your mouth will feel dry, your concentration can be disturbed, and your body will become weak. Of course, this can interfere with activities, right? In order for your work to run smoothly, you need to prevent dehydration in the middle of busy activities during hot weather. Follow some of the methods below.
1. Drink lots of water
The key to preventing dehydration is drinking lots of water. Well, a very good choice of water when you are on the move under the hot sun, namely water. The temperature shouldn't be too hot or too cold.
Drinking hot water can trigger the sweat that the body releases more. Meanwhile, drinking cold water, which most people think is a refreshing drink in hot weather, was not the right choice.
When you are on the move, your body temperature will rise. If you drink cold water, your body will force the temperature to drop rapidly. This is not good for health. So, it's better to drink water with a normal temperature, aka cool to prevent dehydration in the middle of hot weather.
2. Drink immediately when you feel thirsty
When you feel thirsty you should stop activity and drink immediately. Don't delay drinking water because you will increase your risk of becoming dehydrated.
If you are anxious, busy activities make you forget to drink, take advantage of the applications or advanced features on your phone as a reminder to drink water.
Set the drinking time according to the activities you do. If it's heavy enough, you can set an alarm to drink water every 1 or 2 hours to prevent dehydration during hot weather.
3. Check the color of urine
Even though you are advised to drink lots of water, that does not mean you can drink too much water. Too much to drink, make your stomach bloated and have to go back and forth to the bathroom. As a result, activity will be hampered even if you manage to prevent dehydration in the middle of hot weather.
So, to make sure the fluid needs are fulfilled or not, you can see it from the color of the urine. So, when you urinate, pay attention to the color of the urine you are passing out of your body.
If the color is clear, this is a sign that your fluid needs are well fulfilled. Conversely, if the urine is dark yellow, you should increase your fluid intake as soon as possible.
4. Can combine it with eating fruit
Although not the main way, you can make eating fruit as an additional way to prevent dehydration during hot weather. Choose fresh fruit that contains lots of water, such as watermelon, oranges, melons, star fruit, or pineapple.
Apart from the water content which is quite a lot compared to other fruits, these foods also contain calories. That means, the fruit can contribute energy that supports your activities.
5. Wear supportive equipment
Apart from being dehydrated, being active in the sun also makes your skin darker. So, wear sunscreen as often as possible to protect the skin.
You can also use additional equipment, such as an umbrella or hat. This increases the effectiveness of preventing dehydration as long as you are out in the hot sun. Umbrellas and broad-leaved hats reduce sun exposure, which creates a hot sensation on your skin that causes you to sweat.
