You must have heard the term LGBT either in person or through media such as newspapers or television. There are many controversial debates related to LGBT. Even LGBT is one issue that is considered sensitive in Indonesia. What exactly is LGBT? What factors cause someone to become LGBT? We find out in this article.
What is LGBT?
LGBT stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender. The term was used in 1990 to replace the phrase gay community or community that has a sexual orientation towards the same sex, especially men. The term LGBT already represents the groups mentioned above. LGBT has a symbol in the form of a rainbow colored flag.
If gay is a special term for men who have a sexual orientation towards the same sex, lesbian is a term for women who like the same sex. While bisexual is a term for people who can be attracted to men or women. Transgender itself is a term used for people who behave or look different or not according to their gender.
Indonesian Health Minister Nila Djuwita F Moeloek once emphasized that lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender behavior or what is commonly abbreviated as LGBT in terms of health is not justified and is not a mental disorder but a psychological problem.
According to experts, transgender is a problem of deformity of the human reproductive organs or doubts between the female or male organs. However, of course, over time it can be seen which one is more dominant and there should be a way out or it can be resolved.
What causes someone to be LGBT?
There are still many Indonesians who are still unfamiliar with the term LGBT. LGBT is considered a deviant sexual behavior. Many factors cause a person to become LGBT. Here are some of the factors that cause LGBT.
1. Family factors
The education provided by parents to their children has an important role for children to be more likely to become an LGBT member than to live a normal life like other people. When a child gets harsh treatment or other bad treatment, in the end this condition can make the child tend to choose LGBT as a life choice.
When a girl is subjected to harsh treatment or other acts of violence from her father or other brothers, the result of the trauma is that the girl may have an attitude or attitude of hatred towards all men.
2. Environmental and social factors
The environment and one's social habits are alleged to have been the most dominant contributing factors to a person's decision to become part of the LGBT community. The inclusion of cultures originating from abroad is also considered to be the cause for someone to become part of LGBT. This culture is what introduces them to what LGBT is.
3. Genetic factors
Several research results have shown that one of the driving factors for homosexual, lesbian, or other deviant sexual behavior can come from within the body of an LGBT person, which can be inherited from previous family members.
In the world of health, in general, a normal male has an XY chromosome in his body, while a normal woman has an XX chromosome. However, in some cases it is found that a man can have the XXY chromosome type, this means that the man has one extra chromosome. As a result, these men can behave somewhat similarly to those of women.
The presence of the hormone testosterone in the human body has a big role in LGBT behavior. Low levels of the hormone testosterone in the body can result in, among other things, changes in behavior, such as male behavior becoming similar to female behavior.
