What is the function of Atussin?

Atussin is a drug used to control coughs caused by flu symptoms, tuberculosis, bronchitis, pertussis, measles, pneumonia, bronchopneumonia, pharyngitis, laryngitis, tracheitis, tracheobronchitis, pleural irritation, smoking addiction, inhalation of irritating substances, and psychogenic cough.

How do you use Atussin?

Take this medication by mouth with or without food, as your doctor recommends, usually every 6-8 hours with a full glass of water. If you are taking care of yourself, follow all directions on the product packaging. If you are unsure of something, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

How do you save Atussin?

Atussin is best stored at room temperature, away from direct light and damp places. Don't keep it in the bathroom. Don't freeze it. Other brands of this drug may have different storage rules. Observe the storage instructions on the product package or ask your pharmacist. Keep all medicines away from children and pets.

Do not flush medicines down the toilet or down the drain unless instructed to do so. Discard this product when it has expired or when it is no longer needed. Consult your pharmacist or local waste disposal company about how to safely dispose of your product.

What should I pay attention to before using Atussin?

Effects on ability to drive or operate machinery: Atussin can cause drowsiness and dull mental abilities; Patients who are currently undergoing treatment with Atussin are not allowed to drive a vehicle or other transportation which, if they lose concentration, can cause an accident.

Contraindications: patients with asthma, respiratory depression, angle closure glaucoma, and frequent urination due to prostatic urethral dysfunction. Patients receiving monoamine oxidase inhibitors or anyone who is hypersensitive to any of the ingredients of Atussin.

Is Atussin safe for pregnant and lactating women?

Atussin is commonly used in pregnant women without any known harmful side effects. Although there were reports of possible abnormalities in the fetus as a result of using other types of antihistamines, this suspicion was later debunked.

What are the possible side effects of Atussin?

What is the dose of Atussin for adults?

Tablets: 1-2 tablets.

The dose is given orally every 6-8 hours.

What is the dosage of Atussin for children?

Tablets: children> 12 years: 1-2 tablets.

Syrup:

• Children 7-12 years: 10 mL (2 teaspoons)
• 2-6 years: 5 mL (1 teaspoon)
• Infants: 1.25-2.5 mL (¼-½ teaspoon)

The dose is taken orally every 6-8 hours.

In what forms is Atussin available?

Atussin is available in the following dosages and strengths:

• Atussin tablets: 25 x 4
• Atussin syrup: 60 mL

What should I do in an emergency or overdose?

In case of an emergency or overdose, contact the local emergency services provider (119) or immediately to the nearest hospital emergency department.

It is very important to carry a written list of all the prescription and nonprescription drugs you are taking in an emergency.

What should I do if I forget to take / take medicine?

If you forget a dose of Atussin, take it as soon as possible. However, when it is nearing the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and return to the usual dosing schedule. Don't double the dose.
