What is the digoxin immune fab dosage for adults?

Normal Dosage for Adults with Digitalis Glycoside Poisoning

Amount swallowed unknown: infusion 800 mg IV if ingested acutely, 240 mg IV if ingested chronically.

Dosage for Single Large Dose Swallowed:

Dosage (in # of bottles) = (Total body digitalis load in mg) / (0.5 mg of bound digitalis per bottle).

Total body digitalis load mg = (number of tablets / capsule swallowed) x (strength of mg tablets / capsule) x (bioavailability of tablets / capsules). digoxin and elixir tablets are 80% biologically available, digoxin capsules and injection are 100% biologically available.

Dosage based on Serum Level:

Digoxin: Dosage (in # of bottles) = (serum digoxin level in ng / mL) x (weight kg) / (100).

Digitoxin: Dosage (in # of bottle) = (Serum digitoxin level in ng / mL) x (weight kg) / (1000).

Digoxin Immune Fab should be given intravenously once for at least 30 minutes or, in the case of an imminent heart attack, as a bolus injection.

What side effects can be experienced due to digoxin immune fab?

• Side effects are rare. Serious side effects include fever, high potassium (slow heart rate, weak pulse, muscle weakness, tingling feeling), low potassium (confusion, uneven heart rate, extreme thirst, increased urination, discomfort in your stomach. legs, muscle weakness or feeling of weakness), feeling short of breath even with light exertion, or swelling, rapid weight gain.
