What drug Emedastine?

What is emedastine for?

This medication is generally used to relieve redness, itching, and swelling of your eyes caused by allergies such as allergic conjunctivitis. This drug is an antihistamine. Medicines work by blocking certain natural substances such as antihistamines that cause allergic symptoms in the eyes.
Do not use this medication to treat redness and irritation caused by irritated contact lenses.

How do I use emedastine?

First of all, wash your hands first before starting treatment. To avoid contamination, it is best not to let the tip of the medicine dropper touch your eye or other surface.

If you wear contact lenses, remove your contact lenses before using this medicine because this medicine contains a preservative that can be absorbed by contact lenses. Wait at least 10 minutes after using this medication before putting on contact lenses again. Don't wear your contact lenses if you have red eyes.

Use this medication for 4 times a day or as directed by your doctor. Tilt your head while looking up and pull your eyelids down to form a pocket. Place the dropper snugly over your eye and put one drop into the eye. After that look down and slowly close your eyes for 1 to 2 minutes. Place a finger on the corner of your eye near your nose and apply gentle pressure, this will prevent the medicine from leaving your eye. Try not to blink and don't rub your eyes. Repeat this step for your other eye.

Do not rinse the dropper. Change the cap after each use.

If you are using other types of eye medication (such as drops or ointments), wait at least 5 minutes before giving other types of medication. Use an eye drop-type medication before the eye ointment to allow the ointment to get completely into your eye.
Tell your doctor if your condition doesn't change or gets worse.

How do I store emedastine?

This medication is best stored at room temperature, away from direct light and damp places. Don't keep it in the bathroom. Don't freeze it. Other brands of this drug may have different storage rules. Observe the storage instructions on the product package or ask your pharmacist. Keep all medicines away from children and pets.

Do not flush medicines down the toilet or down the drain unless instructed to do so. Discard this product when it has expired or when it is no longer needed. Consult your pharmacist or local waste disposal company about how to safely dispose of your product.

Emedastine side effects

What side effects can be experienced due to emedastine?

The side effects of this drug are usually not very serious.

What should I do if I miss a dose?

If you forget a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. However, when it is nearing the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and return to the usual dosing schedule. Don't double the dose.
