Adult Dose for Hypertension

Initial dose: 600 mg once daily assuming adequate intravascular volume

Maintenance dose: Total daily dosage is 400 to 800 mg given once or twice a day

Eprosartan side effects

What side effects can be experienced due to eprosartan?

Eprosartan Drug Warnings and Cautions

What should be known before using eprosartan?

Tell your doctor if you have diabetes and you are taking aliskiren (Tesorna, di Amturnide, Tekamlo, Tunjukna HCT). Your doctor may tell you not to use this drug first if you have diabetes and you are also taking Aliskiren.

Tell your doctor and pharmacist about any prescription or nonprescription drugs you are taking along with any vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products you are taking or want to take, especially aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) and naproxen. (Aleve, Naprosyn) and selective COX-2 inhibitors such as celecoxib (Celebrex); diuretics ('water pills'); and potassium supplements. Your doctor may change the dosage to monitor for side effects

Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding

You should know that this drug can cause dizziness, lightheadedness, and fainting when you get up too quickly from a lying position. This usually happens when you first start using this medication. To help avoid this problem, get out of bed slowly, resting your feet on the floor for a few minutes before standing up.
Keep in mind that diarrhea, vomiting, not drinking enough, and sweating a lot can all cause a drop in blood pressure, which can lead to dizziness and fainting. Tell your doctor if you have this problem or feel it during your treatment.

What should I do in an emergency or overdose?

What should I do if I miss a dose?

If you forget a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. However, when it is nearing the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and return to the usual dosing schedule. Don't double the dose.
