What Medicine is Dalteparin Salt?
What is dalteparin salt for?
Dalteparin salt is a drug used to treat and prevent dangerous blood clots. The prevention of dangerous blood clots can help reduce the risk of stroke or heart attack. This medication helps keep your blood flowing smoothly by decreasing the activity of clotting proteins in the blood. Dalteparin salt is a type of heparin and works as an anticoagulant (commonly called a "blood thinner").
Conditions that increase the risk of developing blood clots include certain types of surgery (such as hip replacement or abdominal surgery), staying in one position for a long time (immobile), certain types of heart attack and certain types of chest diseases such as unstable angina. For some medical conditions, dalteparin may be used in combination with other "blood thinners" drugs.
Dalteparin salt can also be used to treat and prevent recurrence of clotting in patients with cancer.
