Commercial dressings often cause the skin in your intimate area to become irritated, red, itchy, and smell bad. To overcome this problem, a type of herbal dressing emerged, which contains herbal ingredients and is often said to be good for vaginal health. But is it true that herbal dressings are good?

What are herbal dressings?

Herbal sanitary napkins are pads made from natural ingredients so they are safe to use. This bandage contains several herbal ingredients which are claimed to bring many benefits, including:

  • 100 percent made of cotton
  • Does not contain any bleaching agents
  • Does not contain dioxins
  • Get rid of bacteria and odors
  • Contains 17 natural herbal ingredients that are highly effective in overcoming female problems, such as itching, vaginal discharge, and others.

From some of these benefits and advantages, it seems that herbal pads are safe for daily use. These pads are considered superior to regular pads because they are made of 100 percent cotton and do not contain chlorine bleach which is a risk factor for vaginal discharge. However, herbal dressings have not been proven to be 100% safe, so doctors do not recommend women to use these "alternative" pads.

Women are prone to vaginal infections if they use herbal pads

Herbal dressings contain natural fragrances. But fragrances, be they herbal or synthetic, are the last thing you want to place near your vagina. Fragrance will disrupt the natural pH in the vagina, killing the good bacteria colonies and then triggering the development of bad bacteria, which can lead to bacterial infections such as bacterial vaginosis.

Signs or symptoms if a woman has bacterial vaginosis are abnormal vaginal discharge, vaginal itching, and pain or tenderness during / after sex and when urinating.

What's more, these pads are claimed to contain antiseptic properties that can get rid of vaginal odor problems. The use of antiseptic alone in any form for the vagina is not recommended, because it can disturb the balance of good and bad bacteria colonies. This condition can make vaginal infections easier. Long-term disturbed vaginal pH balance can change your normal vaginal scent to smell.

Still better to use regular pads

Choose good and healthy pads. Choose pads that have the ability to absorb in accordance with the flow of your blood that comes out. Change the pads that you use regularly, 4-6 hours.
