Based on the COVID-19 Preparedness Guidelines sheet issued by the Indonesian Ministry of Health, the first treatment for suspected patients is surveillance. Supervision can be done at home or at a quarantine location.
Supervision is carried out for the purpose of early detection of patients who are still under monitoring or are at the entrance to the country.
Patients who are included in the surveillance criteria are those who have a history of travel to areas affected by the COVID-19 outbreak. Have a fever of 38 ℃ or more.
Patients also experience symptoms related to breathing problems such as coughing, sore throat and shortness of breath, whether or not these conditions require hospitalization. However, recently there have been cases where the patient was positive without showing symptoms. This includes those who have had close contact with positive or suspected COVID-19 patients.
If the suspected patient is really confirmed to be exposed to COVID-19, the officer will contact the KLB (Extraordinary Event) center, then take the patient to a referral hospital for examination. Transporting patients must also use an ambulance with officers wearing personal protective equipment.
The incident will be reported to the health department and the patient must undergo an epidemiological investigation to find out the size of the problem in the outbreak and prevent it from spreading more widely. The health office is also monitoring people who have come into contact with patients who have been confirmed as infected with COVID-19.
The next treatment for patients after the laboratory test results show positive results, they will be treated in an isolation room. Patients will receive intense observation from the medical team to watch for possible worsening of symptoms.
For the cure of positive COVID-19 patients in Indonesia, the signs and symptoms are treated. Treatment will be accompanied by the support of vitamin intake and nutritious foods that can increase the body's resistance to fighting the virus.
After the symptoms disappear, another check will be carried out until the results are negative and declared cured.
Some of the hospitals that are specialized in dealing with COVID-19 are RSPI Dr. Sulianti Saroso in Jakarta, Dr. Hasan Sadikin in Bandung, and Dr. M. Jamil in Padang.
