What is Moexipril for?
Moexipril is a drug that belongs to a class of drugs called ACE inhibitors, and has a function to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). This drug works by relaxing so that it dilates blood vessels. Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems.

How to use Moexipril?
Take this medication usually once or twice a day or as directed by your doctor. Take this medication on an empty stomach, 1 hour before meals. Use this remedy regularly for maximum benefits. Remember to use it at the same time every day.

Adult dosage for congestive heart failure
Initial dose: 7.5 mg orally once a day, 1 hour before meals (patient not receiving diuretics).
Maintenance dose: 7.5-30 mg / day orally in 1-2 separate doses 1 hour before meals.
Adult dosage for diabetic nephropathy
Initial dose: 7.5 mg orally once a day, 1 hour before meals (patient not receiving diuretics).
Maintenance dose: 7.5-30 mg / day orally in 1-2 separate doses 1 hour before meals.
Adult dosage for hypertension
Initial dose: 7.5 mg orally once a day, 1 hour before meals (patient not receiving diuretics).

Side effects

Precautions & Warnings
What should be known before using Moexipril?
Before taking Moexipril, tell your doctor and pharmacist:
- If you are allergic to moexipril or any other medicines.
- If you have diabetes and you take aliskiren (Tesorna, in Amturnide, Tekamlo, Tunjukna HCT). Your doctor may tell you not to take moexipril if you have diabetes and also take Aliskiren.
- The types of prescription and over-the-counter medications you are currently taking, especially diuretics ("water pills"), lithium (Eskalith, Lithobid), other medications for high blood pressure, potassium supplements, and vitamins.
- If you (have) had heart or kidney disease or diabetes.
- If you are having surgery, including dental surgery, tell your GP or dentist that you are taking moexipril.
Is Moexipril safe for pregnant and lactating women?
There are no adequate studies regarding the risks of using this drug in pregnant or breastfeeding women. Always consult your doctor to weigh the potential benefits and risks before using this medication. This drug is included in the risk of pregnancy category D according to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Certain drugs cannot be used with meals or when eating certain foods because drug interactions can occur. Consuming alcohol or tobacco with certain drugs can also cause interactions to occur. Talk to your healthcare professional about using your medication with food, alcohol, or cigarettes.
What health conditions may interact with moexipril?
The presence of other medical problems may affect the use of the drug. Make sure you tell your doctor if you have any other medical problems, especially:
- Angioedema (swelling of the face, lips, tongue, throat, arms, or legs) with other ACE inhibitors, history - Moexipril may increase the risk of recurrence of this condition
- Collagen vascular disease (autoimmune disease) along with kidney disease — Increases the risk of blood problems
- Congestive heart failure
- Dehydration
- Diarrhea
- Hyponatremia (lack of sodium in the blood)
- Kidney disease — This condition may cause a drastic reduction in blood pressure with moexipril
- Diabetes
- Kidney problems — Increases the risk of drastically increasing blood potassium levels
- Diabetic patients who are also taking Aliskiren (Tesorna®) —Should not be used in these patients
- Heart disease (eg ischemic heart disease, aortic stenosis, cerebrovascular disease)
- Liver disease
- Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) —Use with caution. It might aggravate this condition.
Overdose
What should I do in an emergency or overdose?
In case of an emergency or overdose, contact the local emergency services provider (112) or immediately to the nearest hospital emergency department.
What should I do if I miss a dose?
If you forget a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. However, when it is nearing the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and return to the usual dosing schedule. Do not double up on a dose to make up for a missed dose.
