The shape of the human face can be related to certain attitudes, behaviors and personality characteristics. Well, a Canadian study published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior reported that people who have a broad face shape have a higher sexual desire than other groups of people who have smaller faces.
Researchers determine how wide a person's face is by measuring the difference between the length of the face (from the top of the forehead to the tip of the chin) and the width of the face (from the far right of the face to the left side of the face closest to the ear). According to this study, the greater the difference between the length and width of your face, the higher your sex drive.
To put it simply, both men and women with the characteristics of a shorter, wider, and more square face reported having a high libido.
The wider a man's face, the more prone to cheating
This conclusion was reached by the same research team after gathering 145 students, nearly half of whom were male. All of these students were known to be in an affair with their respective partners at the time of the research.
The research team then asked them to submit a passport photo of their faces and fill out a related questionnaire about their respective habits, behavior, sexual activity, and sex drive. Afterward, they were also asked questions about their views and attitudes towards casual sex and adultery.
After measuring the ratio of the difference in the faces of each participant and processing the data from the questionnaire, the researchers found that men who had wide and square faces were more prone to be tempted to cheat because of their high sex drive.
What does sexual arousal have to do with facial features?
High sexual desire is closely related to the sex hormone testosterone. The higher the testosterone level in the body, the higher your libido.
Researchers believe that people who have high testosterone levels tend to have wide and square faces. This is what makes experts conclude that the hormone testosterone also affects the shape of a person's face.
Of course not all people with wide faces can automatically be labeled as nasty or cheating. However, the characteristics and personality of each person vary depending on many other factors. The reasons for everyone to decide to have an affair can be based on many things.
On the other hand, the level of a person's sexual arousal is also influenced by many things. For example, an unhealthy lifestyle (consuming too much alcohol, smoking, staying up late, eating fatty foods) to certain health problems.
Further research is still to be done to ascertain the link between facial shape and sexual arousal.
