Shaving is done to remove hair that grows on the skin, especially on the face, using a razor or other sharp tool. This method is used by most men to remove mustaches or beards on a regular basis.
The length of time for hair growth varies from person to person, including facial hair, namely the mustache and beard. For some people who have a mustache and thick beard, the razor is a fundamental item that must always be there.
How often should you shave?
Before knowing how often to change your razors, you must first know how often you should trim.
There is no standard on how often you should shave. It all depends on you whether you want to shave off, leave a little, or want to have a more natural appearance by growing a mustache and beard.
It is more important to pay attention to how the hair grows and the condition of the skin after shaving. You may not need to shave every day.
The reason is, the razor not only cuts hair, but also carries the outer layer of skin cells. Shaving every day runs the risk of causing skin problems later in life.
You can shave every two or three days to give your skin time to regenerate.
How often should you change your razors?
To avoid the side effects of shaving, always use a new, sharp razor to be safe. Or, replace the knife immediately when it is blunt or there are cracks.
A dermatologist, Jeffrey Benabio, MD, at Kaiser Permanente and Adam Penstein, head of dermatology at the North Shore-LIJ Health System in Lake Success, N.Y, say, “There's no need to be styled with a double razor. The most important thing is that you have to use a sharp razor."
The two dermatologists also advised to immediately remove the razors when they saw any cracks. If you shave a lot, it is advisable to change the razors every one or two weeks.
The need to change razors frequently for men can also be the reason why you shouldn't use a double razor or even a three-bladed one.
Apart from being more expensive, this will make you more likely to be lazy about changing your razors and then not following the recommendations.
For disposable razors, you can probably take 5-10 uses.
Prevent side effects due to shaving
- Always use a new, sharp razor. You should replace the razor immediately if it is blunt or there are cracks
- Wash the area to be shaved with moisturizing cleanser (moisturizing cleanser) and warm water to make the mustache or beard smoother. Keep skin warm and moisturized
- Use a shaving cream or gel, and leave it on for 2-3 minutes so that your hair is smoother and makes it easier for you to shave
- If you have sensitive facial skin, choose products specifically for sensitive skin too
- Always shave in the direction the hair grows
- Rinse the razor frequently to remove hair and shaving cream
- Use cold water when washing to help reduce inflammation of the skin
- Apply with a moisturizer so that the skin is re-hydrated
