What Drug Sulfanilamide?
What is Sulfanilamide for?
Sulfanilamide is a drug commonly used to treat infections of the vagina. Sulfinilamide relieves the burning, itching, and vaginal discharge that can occur in this condition. This medication is known as an antifungal sulfonamide. Works by stopping the growth of the fungus that causes infection.
How to use Sulfanilamide?
Follow the rules given by your doctor or pharmacist before starting treatment. If you have any questions, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
This drug is used specifically in the vagina. Wash your hands before and after using this medicine. Use sulfanilamide once or twice daily as directed by your doctor. Lying on your back, raise your knees toward your chest. Insert one applicator full of cream into the vagina as deeply and comfortably as possible. Gently press the pusher of the applicator to apply the cream. If you feel itching / burning on the outside of the vagina (vulva), apply the cream to that area. Consult your doctor if you have any questions regarding the use of this drug.
Continue to use the medication every day as recommended, even if symptoms have disappeared after a few days or if you are menstruating. Stopping this drug prematurely can cause the infection to recur.
Do not use tampons while using this medication. Unscented sanitary pads can be used during your period or to protect clothing from exposure to medication.
Tell your doctor if your condition remains the same or returns within 2 months of completing treatment. And also tell the doctor immediately if you have fever, chills, flu symptoms, or pain in the stomach. This could mean that your infection is more serious and needs other treatment.
