What is Tigecycline for?
Tigecycline is a drug used to treat certain serious bacterial infections and may be resistant to other antibiotics. This drug is known as the glycycline antibiotic.
It is in the tetracycline class of antibiotics. Works by stopping bacterial growth.
How do I use Tigecycline?
This medication is given by injection into the pulse within 30-60 minutes by a healthcare provider. The dose is usually repeated every 12 hours or as directed by your doctor. The dose and length of treatment will depend on your condition and response to therapy.

The medicinal mixture should be yellow to orange in color. Before use, inspect this product visually for particles or a green / black discoloration. What side effects can be experienced due to Tigecycline?
If you experience signs of an allergic reaction to this medicine, seek medical attention immediately: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Stop using tigecycline and contact your doctor if you experience serious side effects such as:
- Diarrhea that is watery or bloody;
- Severe headaches, ear pressure, dizziness, nausea, vision problems, and pain behind the eyes;
- Nausea, upper stomach pain, itching, loss of appetite, dark urine, pale, yellow stools on the skin or eyes); or
- Severe pain in the upper abdomen radiating to the back, nausea and vomiting, rapid heart rate.
Mild side effects include:
- Dizziness, sleep problems (insomnia);
- Headache; or
- Itching or discharge from the vagina.
