Tiludronic acid is a drug used to treat bone disease. Tiludronic acid works by inhibiting bone absorption. It also prevents the formation and fusion of hydroxyapatite crystals, thereby inhibiting bone mineralization.

Before using tiludronic acid, you should know that its bioavailability increases along with indomethacin when taken together. Increase the risk of hypocalcemia w / aminoglycosides. Reduced bioavailability when aspirin is taken 2 hours after tiludronic acid. Absorption is reduced by antacids, calcium salts, laxatives containing magnesium and iron.

Is the drug Tiludronic Acid safe for pregnant and lactating women?

There are no adequate studies regarding the risks of using this drug in pregnant or breastfeeding women. Always consult your doctor to weigh the potential benefits and risks before using this medication. This medicine is included in the pregnancy risk category C. What are the possible side-effects of Tiludronic Acid?

Some of the side effects you can experience when taking Tiludronic acid: dysphagia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or constipation, asthenia, dizziness, headache, skin reactions, hypocalcaemia, hypophosphataemia, musculoskeletal pain, osteonecrosis of the jaw, ocular disorders, oesophagitis, oesophageal and ulcers gastritis.

Drug Interactions

What is the dosage of Tiludronic Acid for adults?

Paget's disease (bone disease)

Adults> 18 years: 400 mg once daily for 3 months, repeat as needed after a gap of at least 3-6 months.

What to do in an emergency or overdose?

In case of an emergency or overdose, contact the local emergency services provider (118/119) or immediately to the nearest hospital emergency department.

Symptoms of an overdose can be: hypocalcaemia, acute renal failure.

Treatment is supportive and symptomatic. Milk or antacids can be given to minimize absorption in an oral overdose. Dialysis usually doesn't help.

What should I do if I forget to take medicine or forget to take medicine?

If you forget a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. However, when it is nearing the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and return to the usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose.
