5 steps facial routine every day
1. Wash your face properly
Are you sure how to wash your face the right way? Watch Out. The wrong way can actually make facial skin dull and oily, also problematic. Here's a step by step wash the right face:
- Wash your hands first. The skin of the hands will be in direct contact with the facial skin. Dirty hands actually cause bacteria and dirt to accumulate on the skin, and infect your face. So, wash your hands first!
- Remove makeup. After washing your hands, now is the time to remove makeup on the face with cotton and makeup remover . You can use an oil-based remover to clean up any residue waterproof makeup on the face, or use micellar water. Wipe clean, then wash your face with a washcloth soaked in warm water.
- Wash your face with cleansing soap. Choose a face wash that suits your skin type, but to be safe, use a form cream or gel. This type of facial cleanser works to help exfoliate the skin, remove makeup residue, and clogged pores. Spread the soap all over the face with gentle circular motions. Use lukewarm water to wash your face.
- Dry your face. Don't rub your face with a towel to dry it. Simply pat gently with a clean washcloth until the remaining water dries.
Clean your face at least twice a day, morning and night before going to bed.
You can tell if your cleanser is right by feeling the effect after washing your face. A good cleansing soap should not leave a tight, pulling effect on the mat. This actually indicates that your skin's natural oil or moisturizer is gone. A good soap should make your face feel moisturised and supple after washing.
2. Use toner, serum, and moisturizer
Immediately continue by rubbing the toner when the skin condition is still damp, not dripping wet but also not completely dry. This can help the toner content penetrate more fully into the skin. Choose a toner that suits your facial skin type and the target problem you want to eradicate. Try not to choose a toner that contains alcohol, huh!
After using toner, continue with applying facial serum. Facial serums directly target more specific skin problems, such as accelerating skin regeneration, brightening and evening uneven facial tones, fighting wrinkles, to eradicating acne, dark spots and hyperpigmentation
You can use a vitamin C serum or other serum according to your skin condition after washing your face in the morning. Meanwhile, at night after washing your face, it is better to use a retinol or retinoid serum which is good for facial skin at night. Wait 3 to 5 minutes until the serum is absorbed by the skin well.
After using the serum, continue with applying moisturizer. Moisturizers are a must for every skin type, from dry to oily. Choose a moisturizing product that suits your skin type, and make sure it's labeled noncomedogenic and hypoallergenic . Make it a habit to check the ingredients in facial cream products before using them.
2. Wear sunscreen
Wearing sunscreen is a principle of facial care that cannot be overlooked. Exposure to UV rays of the sun can cause facial skin to quickly wrinkle and appear fine lines, and black spots appear on the skin. In addition, sun radiation can increase your risk of developing skin cancer.
Use a special sunscreen for the face with an SPF of at least 50, every time you use moisturizer and before leaving the house. Don't forget to flatten it up to the neck. Remember that sunscreen on the face does not last all day, you must reapply it every 2 to 3 hours on a regular basis.
You are also advised not to be in direct sunlight. Avoid the sun between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. These hours are when the sun's rays of exposure are strongest.
Apart from wearing sunscreen and avoiding direct sun exposure, you can also cover your face (wear a mask), wear long-sleeved shirts, hats, or even glasses when you have to overheat in the sun.
3. Don't smoke
Smoking cigarettes can make your facial skin look older and make wrinkles easier. The reason is, smoking can narrow the small blood vessels in the outermost layer of the skin. This will reduce blood flow and make the skin appear paler. Narrowing of the vessels on the face also depletes the skin of oxygen and nutrients which are important for skin health.
Smoking also reduces collagen production in the body. Lack of collagen in the body risks making facial skin not supple, elastic, and bright. Keep in mind, repetitive pursed lips when smoking is a big cause of wrinkles in the mouth and cheek area.
4. Eat healthy foods
Eating healthy foods such as green vegetables, fruit, whole grains, and eating lean meats can also be a way to treat your face from the inside. In several studies, this healthy diet is said to be influential in preventing acne from appearing on the face.
In addition, several other studies have shown that eating foods low in fat and sugar can make facial skin healthier and more youthful.
Do not forget, the most important thing is to drink enough water. Drinking plenty of water helps to keep your skin hydrated and moisturized from the inside.
5. Manage stress
Too stress is not good for the health of your facial skin. Stress can make your skin more sensitive, so acne and other skin problems can easily appear.
To avoid excess stress, it's good to start looking for ways to control your emotions. For example, by means of meditation, exercise, and adequate sleep.
Habits that are prohibited while caring for the face
1. Don't squeeze pimples
Acne does make hands tempted to squeeze and remove its contents. But don't do this once in a while. Why? Squeezing pimples can cause dirt or germs to leave your hands, and even the contents of the pimples can enter deeper into the skin. This is what often causes acne to become infected.
Squeezed pimples can cause swelling, redness, bleeding sores, and even pockmarks. If there is acne it is better to give acne medication that can be purchased at a pharmacy or by a doctor's prescription.
2. Do not touch your face frequently with your hands
Avoid touching your face directly with your hands. Without realizing it, this can make the germs on the hands move to the face and make skin problems worse.
Touching your face with your dirty hands can spread bacteria that cause pores to become inflamed until they become irritated. To prevent bacteria from transferring, always wash your hands if you have to touch your face.
