The flow of treatment carried out in suspected patients Novel coronavirus
WHO has determined the spread Novel coronavirus as Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) on January 30, 2020.
According to the pulmonary specialist at RSUI and Pers Friendship Hospital, Dr. Raden Rara Diah Handayani, Sp.P (K), Novel coronavirus has a low risk of death, which is only two percent. In fact, when compared with the cases of bird flu that broke out several years ago, the percentage of deaths was from Novel coronavirus still smaller.
However, the significant increase in the number of cases indicates that Novel coronavirus can spread very quickly. That's why all people in the world must start to be aware of this virus. WHO calls on all countries to immediately carry out health surveillance, especially for suspected patients coronavirus .
Public health surveillance is the continuous systematic collection of data, analysis and interpretation of patients needed to plan further action.
In this case, the patient is suspected coronavirus will be closely watched without treatment until there is a change in the test results. This step is also used to find signs of a patient's recurrence of disease.
Quoted from Guidelines for Preparedness for Novel Coronavirus Infection issued by the Indonesian Ministry of Health, supervision is carried out with the following objectives:
- Conduct early detection of patients who are still under surveillance or monitoring 2019-nCoV at the entrance of the country
- Detect human-to-human transmission
- Identify 2019-nCoV risk factors
- Identify areas at risk for 2019-nCoV infection
It is not only patients who are suspected coronavirus , surveillance is also carried out on people who frequently come into contact with or belong to risk groups. For this, patients are divided into several classifications.

Patients included in this group were patients who had a fever of 38 ℃ or more. Patients also experience symptoms related to breathing problems such as coughing, sore throat and shortness of breath, whether or not these conditions require hospitalization.
However, Dr. Diah added that a new patient is considered a suspect if he has a history of travel to China or other countries with a high risk of infection Novel coronavirus within 14 days before symptoms appear. Another condition is that the patient is a health worker who works in an environment with a patient who has severe acute respiratory disease.

Upright case
Patients who are included in this group are patients who have actually been infected with 2019-nCoV from the results of their laboratory tests.
What if a patient with a suspected Novel Coronavirus has been confirmed?
Dr. Diah explained, people who have just returned from China or other countries who have been infected are included in the risk category. If these people have mild cough and cold symptoms, they can still be monitored at home.
Home isolation is monitored by health workers in coordination with the local health office to watch for possible worsening of symptoms. Usually, officers will make regular visits, but sometimes officers can also monitor by telephone.
If the patient's condition worsens, the patient must immediately go to a health service facility (fasyankes).
Later, the patient is suspected coronavirus will get therapy to manage symptoms with other support such as multivitamins and nutritious foods that can increase the body's resistance to fighting viruses. After the symptoms disappear or the results are negative, the patient may be discharged.

Transporting patients must also use an ambulance with officers wearing personal protective equipment.
The incident will be reported to the health department and the patient must undergo an epidemiological investigation to find out the size of the problem in the outbreak and prevent it from spreading more widely. The health office also carries out surveillance on people who have had contact with confirmed patients and are no longer a suspect coronavirus .
When treating patients, staff must wear N95 masks, eye protection, long-sleeved gowns and gloves. Ideally, the equipment used on the patient Novel coronavirus only single use or specifically for one patient. If more than one patient is to be used, the equipment must be cleaned and disinfected.
So far, there have been no confirmed cases of coronavirus in Indonesia. Even so, many doubt this because other countries have been affected, and some patients have even died. Responding to this doubt, Dr. Diah asked the public not to worry.
"If for example there is, the Minister of Health will definitely announce it," he said.
Speaking of referral hospitals, Dr. Diah added that there are already many hospitals in Indonesia that can be visited when a patient is suspected coronavirus . Some of them are RSPI Dr. Sulianti Saroso in Jakarta, Dr. Hasan Sadikin in Bandung, and Dr. M. Jamil in Padang.
