Is there a limit to the number of times you can get pregnant and give birth? Are there any adverse health effects for women who get pregnant and give birth many times? Let's look at the explanation below.
The reason women can only get pregnant in a limited number
Basically, pregnancy can only occur if there is fertilization, and fertilization requires an egg and sperm. Women are destined to have a role in having an egg in the uterus in the fertilization process.
Well, this egg cell will usually shed during menstruation which starts at puberty (usually starting at the age of 12 years) and this will last until all the eggs are depleted (menopause). So as previously explained, the number of times pregnant and giving birth will be determined by the presence or absence of an egg from a woman's uterus.
So women can get pregnant and give birth as many as possible, as long as there are eggs, and accompanied by adequate health conditions.
How many times can a woman get pregnant and give birth?
Women generally get pregnant and give birth up to 5 times. Women or mothers who are pregnant and give birth more than 5 to 6 times, is called multi gravida or multi parity. Multi gravida is the number of times a person is pregnant, while multi parity is how many times a person gives birth. The problem is, not all pregnancies and births can be counted with certainty.
For example, a pregnancy will not be counted if it has a miscarriage or, for example, a pregnancy that does not reach its first or second trimester. Then, a birth is not necessarily the same as the number of pregnancies, because there could be 2 or more births in one pregnancy (twins).
Is there a risk if a woman gets pregnant and gives birth multiple times?
The risks that may be obtained will be related to the dangers that may arise for the mother and the baby. The following are some of the health and non-health risks that can be obtained if you are pregnant and give birth to many children.
1. Preeclampsia
Preeclampsia is a danger that will affect the health of the fetus in the womb. This occurs when blood flow through the placenta is interrupted, so the baby can be deprived of oxygen and nutrients. The effect can inhibit normal fetal growth and can threaten the survival of the fetus itself. One of the risk factors is pregnancy and birth that are less than 2 years apart.
2. Uterine prolapse
Uterine prolapse, or what is commonly known as "descent," is a condition where the uterus descends into the vaginal canal. Usually there are levels, from grade 1 to 4. If so grade 4 then the uterus (womb) has come out of the vaginal canal. The risk factors are due to the number of children, the type of delivery, the size of the baby's weight and collagen abnormalities.
This complaint is usually felt just before or at menopause, because the tissue around the uterus is getting "loose" or there is an increase in abdominal pressure, one of which triggers is chronic cough disease.
3. Placenta pravia
Placenta previa is a condition when part or all of the placenta covers the cervix. The placenta or placenta will form and stick to the uterine wall when a woman is pregnant. This factor occurs when you get pregnant and give birth many times. The more you get pregnant and give birth, the more difficult it will be for the pregnancy to find a place for conception.
4. It is difficult to raise a large number of children at once
Getting pregnant, giving birth, and raising so many children today, requires a lot of money and responsibility. To ensure maximum growth and development, parents need to meet the nutritional needs of their children. No less important, children need optimal education.
In addition, the large number of families (children) requires a division of time, attention, and costs that must be carefully prepared. It is not certain that both parents can share these three things fairly and sufficiently. If the distance between children is too close, of course this will be more difficult to fulfill. One way to control and prevent excess pregnancy, you can get by using the family planning system, namely using pregnancy contraceptives.
