"The COVID-19 vaccine contains a chip that can track people who have been vaccinated", "the synovac vaccine has dangerous side effects," and other hoaxes about vaccines are circulating on social media. These fake news stories can cause excessive fear and anxiety which can cause psychosomatic effects or false side effects from the COVID-19 vaccination that doesn't exist.
Millions of people around the world hope to get vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as possible. But at the same time, many people also refuse to get vaccinated. Those who reject this are not all anti-vaccine groups. Some of them are just afraid because they are exposed to misinformation that is widely circulating on social media and by word of mouth. They doubt the safety and side effects of the vaccine, given that the COVID-19 vaccine is made extremely fast.
Psychosomatic symptoms and the importance of being free from hoaxes prior to COVID-19 vaccination
Given the uncontrolled spread of COVID-19 cases, the Indonesian government has chosen vaccination as an effort to control the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia. All Indonesian citizens who are included in the 70% of the target must not refuse to be vaccinated.
After I uploaded a video of me undergoing the COVID-19 vaccination, it turned out that many of my friends and followers who expressed his fear. Some are confused about whether or not they have a particular disease that can be injected with the vaccine. But there are also those who from the start decided to refuse because they don't believe in vaccines.
In fact, the vaccines used have been through clinical trials on thousands of people and their safety has been guaranteed by experts at the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM).
Vaccines are safe, even for those with comorbidities with hypertension and diabetes as long as the diseases are controlled. Those who cannot be vaccinated are those who have autoimmune diseases or other comorbidities that are not well controlled.
Lack of information and frequent exposure to negative news or hoaxes can cause symptoms that are not actually the result of a reaction to the vaccine. Excess anxiety can cause undesirable side effects after getting vaccinated, such as weakness, headaches, stomach aches, and other things. This condition can arise because of the feeling of being so scared after the vaccination.
The thought of extreme fear can make minor side effects seem severe. This is a psychosomatic aspect that needs attention.
What is psychosomatic?
Psychosomatic or what is also called psychosomatic is a term that refers to complaints of physical symptoms that arise as a result of the thoughts and emotions that a person feels.
Do you still remember the many psychosomatic complaints in the early days of the pandemic? Many people are scared because they are bombarded with information about the symptoms of COVID-19, then they are so anxious that they feel sore throats, have fever, or symptoms of COVID-19 even though they are not infected.
One of the reasons for this reaction is anxiety because it is triggered by continuous negative information. The amygdala or anxiety center as well as our memory becomes overworked. This then made him unable to cope with the hard work.
This overworked amygdala also activates the autonomic nervous system excessively keeping a person on a constant state of alert. This imbalance makes psychosomatic symptoms appear as a form of reaction to always be prepared to face threats.
Many cases of psychosomatic symptoms occur in clinics. According to the Bradford Somatic Inventory, there are at least 40 psychosomatic symptoms. So it could be that people who are injected with the COVID-19 vaccine experience psychosomatic symptoms because they are very anxious.

I suggest that the COVID-19 vaccination be prioritized for people who are really willing to get the shot, while continuing to provide education to those who are still doubtful and afraid.
This is so after effect vaccines can be better studied and are not confused with psychosomatic symptoms which are not based on organ abnormalities, but due to overactivity of the autonomic nerves.
If not taken seriously, the psychosomatic effects that arise after the COVID-19 vaccination can make many people complain. There will be a lot of talk on social media about the side effects they are experiencing and making even more people fear getting vaccinated.
Especially if those who speak are public figures or social media celebrities who have a lot followers .
