Many people think that dreams are part of a hunch or a clue. It is not surprising that not a few of them are trying to find out the meaning of their dreams through occult sites. Especially if what comes in your dream is a famous person like the president or a favorite artist that we have never even met, or maybe a crush that we have been chasing after. Scientifically, why can someone dream of another?
Why can you dream someone?
Most people have had dreams. Dreams can just come without being planned, and so can the people who are involved in them. It has become very common for someone to dream of other people in their dreams, whether they are well-known or just skittish.
According to Vocata George, Ph.D, a Jungian Analyst at the C.G. Jung Education Center of Cleveland, dreams are symbolic, not real.
That is, there is not always a connection between what you dream of and the existing reality. Occasionally it may be, but there isn't enough evidence to suggest that dreams can predict future events.
Although there is no definite evidence, dreams of someone often arise based on your experiences. Whether it's activities, conversations, memories, and problems with certain people.
Clinical Psychologist in the United States, Dr. John Mayer, stated that it does not mean that when someone dreams of his ex-girlfriend it means that he is still in love. This may appear randomly without a trigger.
But certainly, dreaming of someone can make you learn more about certain feelings and values. This is because everything in dreams often has a specific meaning and relevance for each person.
Sometimes dreaming of someone serves as a reminder of an unresolved problem, either with that person or someone else.
The subconscious mind often helps find things about yourself that have been buried for a long time to come back through dreaming of someone. But not infrequently, dreams are just sleep flowers that you don't even remember when you wake up.
Category of people who enter into dreams, according to research
In a study published in the Journal of Sleep Research, facts were found about people who are usually present in dreams. Although not a sure thing, there are several groups that often appear when you dream of someone.
The study, which involved 320 adult dream reports, found evidence that:
- About 48 percent of the characters that appear have names that are known to the dreamer
- About 35 percent of characters appear because of their social role such as a certain profession or something to do with the dreamer such as a boyfriend or ex
- About 16 percent are unknown
When dreaming of someone, the characters that go into a dream are divided into:
- About 32 percent enter into dreams based on their appearance
- Approximately 21 percent enter into dreams based on their behavior
- About 45 percent go into dreams because they have interacted directly
- About 44 percent are people who just know
Meanwhile, other research investigates the relationship between emotions and emerging characters. Usually emotions of affection and joy arise when dreaming of someone you know.
However, there is no definite reference and relationship in dreaming of someone. Including about who will appear in someone's dream and what it has to do with you.
