What is mastopexy?
Mastopexy (breast uplfit) is a cosmetic surgery that functions to remove the layers of skin on your breasts to improve the shape of the breasts.
What are the benefits of mastopexy?
Your breasts will become firmer and have a nice shape.
When do I need to have mastopexy?
Pregnancy, breastfeeding, gravity, weight gain, normal aging, and heredity can all change the shape of your breasts to sagging. If your surgeon thinks you are unable to use breast implants to achieve the contour / shape you want, you should follow his advice. Also, if the tissue around the nipple or areola is elongated, you may want to consider a mastopexy.
Precautions & warnings
What should I know before doing a mastopexy?
Mastopexy will not significantly change the size of your breasts or improve the top of your breasts. If you want your breasts to appear bigger or smaller, you should consult a surgeon for an alternative or combination method with other surgeries.
Are there alternatives to mastopexy?
Use push up bra can make your breast shape beautiful. If the surgeon sees that your breasts are small in size, the surgeon will suggest to perform breast augmentation surgery. If your breasts are large in size, then the surgeon will suggest performing breast reduction or breast reduction surgery.
Process
What should I do before mastopexy?
This operation is performed under general anesthesia, aka general anesthesia. This means you will fall asleep during the operation. You will be asked to fast. This means you shouldn't eat or drink for about six hours before the surgery. However, it is important to follow your anesthetist's advice. At the hospital, nurses will check your heart rate, blood pressure and urine. Your surgeon will explain the preparations for your surgery. You may need to have a mammogram (breast x-ray) before surgery.
How is the mastopexy process?
The operation usually takes about 90 minutes. Your surgeon will dissect the areola line (the dark area around the nipple) and dissect vertically under your areola. Then the excess skin is removed and your breast tissue is formed. Your surgeon will lift your nipple so that it is in a higher position.
What should I do after mastopexy?
There will be a change in the color of the breasts and you will feel swelling. You can go home the same day after the operation. You will be able to return to work after a week, depending on the type of job. You can do some activities that are less strenuous, such as carrying your child, after about two weeks. Regular exercise will help you to be able to carry out normal activities as quickly as possible. Before you start exercising, ask your healthcare team or doctor for advice.
Mastopexy results will change gradually over time. Your breasts will become more supple and natural.
