Temu ireng is a herbal plant that has a Latin name curcuma aeruginosis . Temu ireng and ginger are actually still one species, and are both often given to small children who have difficulty eating. No wonder this plant is often referred to as an appetite-enhancing herb, aka "jamuk cekok". However, what else is the true benefit of meeting ireng?

Temu ireng is often used as herbal medicine in Indonesia

Temu ireng is a type of plant Zingiberaceae which has been known to the public as a traditional medicinal ingredient. Usually the benefits of temu ireng are used as ingredients for natural medicinal herbs. For example, to treat coughs, asthma, scabies, worms, malaria, and as an appetite enhancer.

But unfortunately, there is no valid research that can prove that the benefits of temu ireng can actually treat various diseases as mentioned above.

The benefits of meeting ireng to treat baldness

Research at Naresuan University, Thailand, found the potential benefits of temu ireng to treat baldness in men. This study tested 87 men who experienced baldness or androgenetic alopecia (AGA).

The men were randomly assigned to receive a drug comparison between monixidil (hair growth drug) and temu ireng extract and compared to a placebo. This study tested the use of these drugs for 2 times for 6 months. The medicine is applied to the scalp like shampooing.

The efficacy of the drug is assessed based on how much hair is growing in the bald areas that are targeted and the patient's subjective assessment of hair growth.

The results showed that the benefits of temu ireng extract and monoxidil can reduce baldness and stimulate new hair growth. The use of temu ireng and monoxidil is also safe and has no proven side effects on the hair and scalp.

Pay attention to this before using herbs for treatment

To get the benefits of meeting ireng, this plant is usually only used a little because it tastes very bitter. If you want to consume it, it should be mixed with other ingredients that can neutralize the bitter taste of temu ireng.

In addition, the benefits of temu ireng have not been medically proven for the use of internal medicine. It is better before using any herbal plants, first consult a doctor. Herbal medicine cannot replace medical treatment at a doctor.

Medicinal plants only function as supporting (promotive) and preventive (preventive) therapy, not to cure diseases. If you want to use any type of herbal medicine, it's best to consult a doctor. Later doctors can consider herbal dosages and how to use them safely according to your condition
