A failed IVF process is a blow to couples who undergo it, especially women. By experiencing this, you will definitely be questioning "What exactly makes the IVF process fail?". Many people give up, and prefer to adopt children. However, was that the best decision? You need to know that giving up is not the only way to deal with this condition. Understanding the various factors that cause IVF failure as well as how to prevent them can motivate you to start another cycle.
Because the IVF program failed
1. Lack of embryo quality
The quality of the embryo depends on two factors: the sperm and the egg. Both partners need to be in optimal health for several months prior to the IVF cycle to make high quality embryos. It can take up to 90 days for the man to produce mature sperm. Whatever they have been doing so far can negatively or positively impact sperm. Soaking in hot water, cycling, drinking alcohol, and smoking will negatively affect sperm. A healthy diet that is high in alkaline and antioxidants can improve sperm parameters. Acupuncture and herbal remedies can also be very useful during this 90 day period.
Although not able to change the genetics of women, the quality of eggs can be improved by creating a healthy environment. Eggs go through a screening process which takes months before they are ready for ovulation. Make sure you keep your body healthy to help ensure the genetic potential of the egg is reached. Diet, lifestyle and acupuncture can play an important role in this process.
2. Poor ovarian response
A healthy woman should respond well and produce many eggs during the stimulation phase of IVF. Unfortunately, many women may not respond well to IVF drugs, so they produce only a few eggs, or no eggs at all. This is called a bad ovarian response. This condition is very common in women who have high or low levels of FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) or low antral follicle counts.
The best way to help the ovaries respond to IVF drugs is similar to creating healthy embryos, namely by creating a healthy environment. Deficiencies in certain vitamins such as vitamin D can greatly reduce fertility. By optimizing your body and giving it time to respond to changes, you can see drastic changes.
3. Poor sperm quality
The genetic material stored in the sperm head may be abnormal, even when semen analysis shows that sperm concentration, motility, and morphology are normal. Sperm DNA damage can be caused by exposure to chemicals, free radicals, oxidants (metabolic byproducts), and tobacco use. Injecting one sperm into an egg can increase the chance of conception, but it is not guaranteed that normal sperm is selected. Fertilizing an egg with abnormal sperm can produce an abnormal embryo.
4. Implantation failure
This is the last stage of achieving pregnancy. A healthy egg is taken, then the sperm and egg are brought together to create an embryo, then the embryo is transferred to the uterus. After all, it's time for implantation to take place. Unfortunately, implantation is probably one of the most common factors that cause IVF failure. Polyps, cysts, poor blood flow, thin lining, etc. may contribute to preventing the embryo from implanting when it is transferred into the uterus.
The good news is that acupuncture has a reputation for increasing uterine blood flow and implantation rates. A large study has shown that simply performing laser acupuncture on the day the embryo is transferred will increase the implantation rate by as much as 15 percent. What's more, when you do acupuncture regularly until the day the embryos are transferred, you can have increased blood flow, as well as help the uterus which has a thin lining.
5. Endometrial growth is not optimal
Suboptimal endometrial growth is one of the causes of failed IVF, and this is difficult to treat. For some patients, suboptimal endometrium can be associated with poor uterine blood flow. Unfortunately, in most cases the cause is unknown. To increase the endometrium in future cycles, you can do an endometrial biopsy before the stimulation cycle.
