E-cigarettes, aka vapes, are designed with the aim that over time people will stop smoking. Vape is different from ordinary cigarettes that use tobacco. People have started to switch to vape which is said to be better, because vape is made in such a way so that the smoke that is released does not cause pollution so it is safe for the body. But is it really like that?

Vaping does not use tobacco, but did you know that nicotine is still in the vape liquid? Electricity is needed to carry nicotine in the form of an aerosol. Hmm, then, e-cigarettes are addictive too, huh?

Is vape addictive?

As explained above, e-cigarettes also contain nicotine. We often hear that nicotine is an addictive substance. This means that these substances can cause dependence. Nicotine can make up the level of dependence on our body, so it will be difficult for you to reduce it. This is one reason it is difficult for you to quit smoking. Another cause is that your body will show physical symptoms when you stop consuming it, such as nausea, dizziness, and coughing.

Users of e-cigarettes or e-cigarettes remain potentially dependent because the high-voltage tubes in e-cigarettes can carry large amounts of nicotine into the body. Some sources even argue that you are more prone to absorbing a lot of nicotine while vaping.

According to the American Lung Association, most adults start smoking at 18 years of age and even younger. This also makes the addiction stronger. Lah, why is that? It's a well-known fact that if you start taking nicotine at a very young age, your addiction will likely get stronger.

In other words, the level of dependence that has built up in the body is large enough, so that every day you will want it again and again. According to K. Vendrell Rankin, chairman of Texas A&M University Baylor College of Dentistry's Tobacco Treatment Services, everyone has nicotine receptors in the brain, so when you start smoking or vaping, these receptors respond to an increased need for nicotine. So, when you quit smoking or vaping, those receptors won't go away either.

Even though vaping is tobacco-free, nicotine continues to rapidly increase dependence. This is because nicotine in any form can trigger the release of neurotransmitters such as adrenaline and dopamine, which have an impact on the body's systems. Dopamine, which affects the brain, can cause you to want more nicotine. A Harvard study cited by the Medical Daily website reveals that there are other substances that are also additives. Hmm, what is it? Pyrazine can also strengthen nicotine's qualities. These substances are also found in e-cigarettes.

What about the flavoring ingredients in vape fluids?

Pyrazine has also been described as a combination of the flavor and aroma of tobacco smoke. Although vape liquid manufacturers may keep the flavorings secret, e-cigarettes contain some additives to regular cigarettes. The added flavor is used as a "sweetener" from playing vaporized vapors.

It's actually quite safe to use these flavorings, but this can lead to mistakes. Safe to eat does not mean that it is safe to inhale. The Food and Drug Administration in the United States warns of the public health risks of vaping. Of course it is legal for adults to use e-cigarettes, but not with small children. Indeed, no one has revealed that these flavorings cause dependence, but one ingredient called diacetyl can cause serious lung disease.

Is it true that e-cigarettes can help you quit smoking?

Indeed, the claim is like that, e-cigarettes are made so that people will slowly get used to not smoking. But with the nicotine in the flavored liquid, it's quite difficult to believe it too. In fact, according to the FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, e-cigarettes are not a safe method for smokers who want to quit smoking. Even e-cigarette users who are also smokers still smoke tobacco, even though they also use e-cigarettes.

Excess nicotine enters the body can cause poisoning. In severe cases of poisoning, smokers or e-cigarette users may experience seizures and respiratory depression. The risk of death also remains when you have consumed nicotine above the normal limit. About 30 to 60 mg of nicotine can kill an adult. Do you still want to vape or smoke?
