What is Kazano for?

Kazano is an oral drug that contains a combination of two drugs, namely allogliptin and metformin. Kazano is used to control blood sugar levels in patients with type two diabetes. Its use is balanced with diet and physical exercise to maintain optimal blood sugar levels. This drug is not used as a therapeutic treatment in patients with type one diabetes and diabetic ketoacidosis.

Kazano consists of allogliptin and metformin. Alogliptin in Kazano works by increasing the production of incretin in the body. Incretin is the body's natural hormone that helps control blood sugar by increasing the release of insulin, especially after a meal. Alogliptin also decreases the amount of glucose produced by the liver.

The metformin content in Kazano works by improving your body's response to insulin. In addition to both reducing sugar production by the liver, metformin in Kazano also works by reducing the amount of sugar absorbed by the intestines during digestion.

Kazano drinking rules

Take Kazano according to the recommendations given by your doctor. Kazano is an oral medication that is usually taken twice a day at the same time as meals to avoid side effects involving digestive problems. Don't cut, chew, or crush Kazano to eat it. Take this drug in its entirety.

Make sure you are drinking enough while taking this medication, unless your doctor instructs you otherwise. The dose given has been adjusted to your health condition, the body's response to treatment, and the drugs you are taking. Do not change your dose without discussing it with your doctor. Kazano dosage (Alogliptin - Metformin) for adult patients with type 2 diabetes

Initial dose: 12.5 mg / 500 mg or 12.5 mg / 1,000 mg twice daily

Maintenance dose: according to body response and drug effectiveness

Maximum daily dose: 25 mg / 2,000 mg

Side effects

What are the possible side effects of consuming Kazano?

Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhea, flatulence may occur as a result of taking this medicine. If these symptoms persist or get worse, contact your doctor. Stomach pain may occur at the start of using Kazano after taking the same dose for several days. That may be a sign of excess lactic acid from metformin consumption.

Some of the side effects that may arise due to consumption of Kazano are:

• Pancreatitis is characterized by nausea and vomiting, loss of appetite, yellowing of the eyes and skin
• Heart failure characterized by shortness of breath, swelling in the legs, unnatural fatigue, and sudden weight gain
• Allergic reactions such as itching, rash, redness, swelling of the face, tongue and throat, and shortness of breath
• Increased blood pressure (severe headache, blurred vision, rustling ears)
• Muscle ache

What should I know before taking Kazano?

• Tell your doctor about all medicines you take, both prescription and nonprescription drugs, including herbal medicines. Some drugs can cause interactions if they are taken together
• Tell your doctor about any drug allergies you have, including allergies to allogliptin and metformin. Also inform if you have other allergies. This medicine may contain other ingredients that can potentially cause allergies if you have them
• Tell your doctor about your medical history and illnesses you have had, especially kidney disease, heart disease, liver disease, pancreatitis, and gallstones.
• The use of this drug may trigger lactic acid buildup in the body. This risk is increased in those who have certain health conditions, serious infections, are alcoholics, or are over 65 years of age
• Metformin can also increase ovulation in premenopausal women, which can lead to unplanned pregnancies. Consult your doctor if you are planning a birth
• If you plan to have radiological examinations that require injection of contrast fluid into the body, stop using this medicine

Is Kazano safe for consumption by pregnant women?

There has not been adequate research that informs the association of the use of Kazano with the risk of miscarriage or birth defects in pregnant women. Consult your doctor if you are planning to become pregnant or are pregnant and need blood sugar control. Your doctor will probably give you a different dose. The use of this drug for pregnant women is only given if it is proven to have a greater benefit than the risk to the fetus.

Drug Interactions

What drugs might interact with Kazano?

Overdose

What should I do if I overdose on Kazano?

In an emergency or overdose, immediately contact emergency medical assistance (119) or immediately to the nearest hospital emergency department. Symptoms of a Kazano overdose include severe drowsiness, severe nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, and an unusual heartbeat.

What if I forget to take medicine?

If you miss your scheduled medication, take it as soon as you remember. If it is too close to the schedule for taking the next medication, ignore the missed schedule and continue on the normal schedule. Do not double your dose on a single medication schedule.
