What is the drug Tirofiban for?

Tirofiban is a drug to prevent unwanted clotting (clotting) of platelets in the blood that can result in certain heart or blood vessel conditions.

Tirofiban is used to prevent blood clots or heart attacks in people with severe chest pain or other conditions, and in those undergoing a procedure called angioplasty (to open blocked arteries).

Tirofiban can also be used for purposes not listed in the medication guide.

How do you use the medicine for Tirofiban?

Tirofiban is injected into a vein through an IV. The health care provider will provide this injection.

While using tirofiban, you may need frequent blood tests.

How to store Tirofiban?

This medication is best stored at room temperature, away from direct light and damp places. Don't keep it in the bathroom. Don't freeze it. Other brands of this drug may have different storage rules. Allergy

The precise studies carried out to date have not shown a specific problem in the elderly cohort that will limit the usefulness of the injection of tirofiban in the elderly.

Is the Tirofiban drug safe for pregnant and lactating women?

There is no adequate research on the risks of using this drug in pregnant or breastfeeding women. Always consult your doctor to weigh the potential benefits and risks before using this medication. This drug is included in the risk of pregnancy category B according to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Side effects

What are the possible side effects of Thyrofiban?

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: nausea, vomiting, sweating, hives, itching, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Thyrofiban increases the risk of bleeding that can become severe or life-threatening. Call your doctor or emergency medical help if you have:

• Easy bruising or bleeding (nosebleeds, bleeding gums)
• Bleeding around the IV or catheter
• Bleeding that won't stop
• You may also experience bleeding inside your body, such as in your stomach or intestines. Call your doctor if you have bloody stools, or if you cough up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds. These conditions can be signs of bleeding in your digestive tract

Common side effects may include:

• Dizzy
• Slow heart rate
• leg pain, pelvic pain
• Swelling, increased sweating

Not everyone experiences the following side effects. There may be some side effects not listed above. If you have concerns about certain side effects, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Drug Interactions

What drugs can interfere with the drug Tirofiban?

Although certain drugs should not be used at the same time, in other cases two different drugs can be used together even if interactions are possible. In this case, your doctor may be able to change the dose or take other precautions that may be needed. Using this medication with any of the following medicines may cause an increased risk of certain side effects, but using both drugs may be the best treatment for you. If the two drugs are prescribed together, your doctor may change the dose or adjust how often you use one or both drugs.

• Vitamin A.

Can certain foods and drinks interfere with the action of the drug Tirofiban?

Certain drugs should not be used with meals or when eating certain foods because drug interactions can occur. Consuming alcohol or tobacco with certain drugs can also cause interactions to occur. Discuss your use of drugs with food, alcohol, or tobacco with your health care provider.

What health conditions can interfere with the performance of the drug Tirofiban?

The presence of other health problems in your body may affect the use of this medicine. Tell your doctor if you have other health problems, such as:

• Active bleeding
• Bleeding problems (eg, bleeding diathesis), history
• Major surgery (in the last 30 days)
• Severe injury (in the last 30 days)
• Thrombocytopenia (low platelets in the blood), history - Should not be used in patients with this condition.
• Kidney disease - Use with caution. The effect can be increased due to slower clearance of the drug from the body.

What is the dose of the drug Tirofiban for adults?

Usual Adult Dose for Acute Coronary Syndrome:

Initial (IV): 25 mcg / kg over 3 minutes

Maintenance (IV): 0.15 mcg / kg / minute constant infusion for up to 18 hours

What is the dose of the drug Tirofiban for children?

Safety and effectiveness are not known in pediatric patients (less than 18 years).

In case of an emergency or overdose, contact the local emergency services provider (118/119) or immediately to the nearest hospital emergency department.

What should I do if I forget to take medicine or forget to take medicine?

If you forget a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. However, when it is nearing the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and return to the usual dosing schedule. Don't double the dose.
