How many times a day do you have a bowel movement? Does not having regular bowel movements every day mean you are not feeling well? Not necessarily.
A study published in Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology said that we should indeed defecate every day. Based on the study, a healthy schedule for defecating ranges from one to three times a day, and can vary from one day to the next.
Manure is rubbish or body waste and you need to clean or dispose of it daily to make sure you are eliminating toxins from the body properly. Some people even have a bowel movement every time they finish eating.
But Bernard Aserkoff, M.D., doctorate in the GI Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston told WebMD that there is no normal defecation schedule, that there is only an average.
"On average there is once or twice a day," said Bernard. "But a lot of people have more bowel movements than that, and some even less. Maybe once every two days, or some once or twice a week. As long as you feel comfortable, you don't need to go to the bowel movements very often."

Form is more important than frequency
Slightly different from Bernard, nutritionist and author of the book The Beauty Detox Solution Kimberly Snyder says that a good bowel schedule is once a day, although the ideal is twice a day.
On his personal website, KimberlySnyder.com Kimberly also said how often you go to the bathroom will vary slightly for each person, so what we need to pay attention to is not how often, but whether your poop is healthy or not.
“Is your poop hard or soft? If it's hard, you should review your fiber and water intake. You may be dehydrated or constipated. If it's too soft and runny, your food moves in too fast, ”said Kimberly.
"Sometimes the texture of the poop is more important than frequency, but once or twice a day is a good habit," adds the woman who often performs at The Today Show and The Dr. Oz Show this.
Study from Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology earlier confirmed that if you only have a bowel movement once a week, you may be constipated. In addition, if you defecate more than 5 times a day, you may get diarrhea. Both can be serious health risks if they last for a long time.
