What should be considered before using the drug Cefditoren?
Cefditoren is a drug that will react on milk protein. If you are allergic to milk protein (lactose intolerance) or if you have a carnitine deficiency (lack of a certain chemical in the body). Talk to your doctor if you are unsure.
Do not take this medication if you are allergic to Cefditoren, or other cephalosporin antibiotics, such as:
- cefaclor (Raniclor);
- cefadroxil (Duricef);
- cefazolin (Ancef);
- cefdinir (Omnicef);
- cefpodoxime (Vantin);
- cefprozil (Cefzil);
- seftibuten (Cedax);
- cefuroxime (Ceftin);
- cephalexin (Keflex); or
- cephradine (Velosef).
Before using Cefditoren, tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs (especially penicillin), or if you have:
- Kidney disease (or if you are on dialysis)
- Liver disease
- If you are malnourished
If you have this condition, you may need a dose adjustment or special tests to be able to use Cefditoren safely.
Is Cefditoren safe for pregnant and lactating women?
There is no adequate research on the risks of using this drug in pregnant or breastfeeding women. Always consult your doctor to weigh the potential benefits and risks before using this medication. Side effects
What are the possible side effects of Cefditoren?
Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: nausea, vomiting, sweating, hives, itching, difficulty breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, or feel like you might pass out.
Call your doctor if you have any of the following serious side effects:
- Diarrhea that is watery or bloody
- Fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms
- unusual bleeding
- seizures
- pale or yellowing of the skin, dark colored urine, fever, confusion or weakness
- jaundice (skin or eyes)
- fever, sore throat, and severe headache, peeling skin, and red skin rash
- increased thirst, loss of appetite, swelling, weight gain, feeling short of breath, urinating less than usual or not at all
Less serious side effects may include:
- Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, mild diarrhea
- Constipation, belching, nausea;
- Dry mouth, changes in appetite
- Headache, dizziness, feeling restless or hyperactive
- Stiff or tight muscles
- Muscle ache
- White patches or sores inside your mouth or lips
- Unusual or unpleasant taste in your mouth
- Difficulty sleeping (insomnia), strange dreams
- Runny or stuffy nose
- Mild itching or skin rash
- Itching or vaginal discharge

What drugs can interfere with the drug Cefditoren?

Certain drugs should not be used with meals or when eating certain foods because drug interactions can occur. Consuming alcohol or tobacco with certain drugs can also cause interactions to occur. Discuss your use of drugs with food, alcohol, or tobacco with your health care provider.
What health conditions can interfere with the performance of the drug Cefditoren?

- Carnitine deficiency - can be exacerbated by Cefditoren

What is the dose of Cefditoren for adults?
- Usual Adult Dose for bronchitis, take 400 mg orally twice a day for 10 days
- The usual adult dose for pneumonia is 400 mg orally twice a day for 14 days
- The usual adult dose for tonsillitis or pharyngitis is 200 mg orally twice a day for 10 days
- Usual Adult Dose for skin infections or soft tissue infections take 200 mg orally twice a day for 10 days.
Dosage of the drug Cefditoren for children
- Children's dosage (age 12 years) for bronchitis use 400 mg orally, twice daily for 10 days
- The dose for children (ages 12 years) for pneumonia use 400 mg orally, twice daily for 14 days
- The dosage for cases of tonsillitis or pharyngitis is 200 mg orally twice a day for 10 days
- The usual children's dose for skin infections or soft tissue infections is 200 mg orally twice a day for 10 days

What to do in an emergency or overdose?
In case of an emergency or overdose, contact the local emergency services provider (119) or immediately to the nearest hospital emergency department.
Overdose symptoms may include:
- Stomachache
- Gag
- Stomach ache
- Diarrhea
- Seizures
What should I do if I forget to take medicine or forget to take medicine?
If you forget a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. However, when it is nearing the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and return to the usual dosing schedule. Don't double the dose.
