- How do you choose good sports shoes?
When exercising, of course we will use shoes as footwear. As ordinary people, we often just choose shoes without considering the activities we will do with these shoes. It is not uncommon for people to choose shoes based solely on price, color, model and brand. Even though there are these shoes that have been specially designed for certain activities.
Why is it important to wear the right sports shoes?
In addition to protecting your feet from rocks and other objects that can injure your feet, wearing the right shoes can protect yourself from injuries that could occur. Without injury, of course you will exercise more comfortably.
Some of the injuries that you can avoid by wearing the right shoes include shin splints, Achilles tendonitis, and blisters on the feet that are painful when the foot steps. According to Mike O'Neill of The College of Podiatry, there are at least 65% of recreational athletes who use shoes that don't fit.
Different types of sports, different shoes are needed
Each type of sport has its own characteristic movements. Different movements, of course, require different shoes. Here are some examples of shoes that are ideal for certain types of sports.
Soccer
When playing football, your shoes will come under a lot of stress especially when playing on hard surfaces such as fields with artificial grass. Shoes can add pressure to your feet. This pressure can result in calluses and calluses ingrown toenails or cannies.
Tennis and squash
Tennis and squash require a lot of sideways movement. Ordinary running shoes do not provide the right stability for this movement. Tennis and squash shoes are heavier and stiffer than regular running shoes. This design is suitable for activities stop-and-go where you will suddenly stop and move.
Run
Running shoes are good shoes for running and only use. Running shoes are flexible so your feet can bend when walking but are not suitable for sports with a lot of sideways movements such as tennis.
Running shoes should fit snugly against your feet. If it is too narrow, you can have blisters and bruises on your toenails.
How do you choose good sports shoes?
- Try on your shoes after you exercise or after running. At this point, your feet are at their greatest size.
- When trying on shoes, wear socks that you normally wear for exercise.
- When using shoes, you should be able to move your toes freely.
- Good shoes will make you feel comfortable when you wear them. No need to get used to using it several times until it feels comfortable.
- Try walking or running for a moment in your shoes. See if your shoes feel comfortable when you wear them.
- Rearrange your shoelaces starting at the very end. Tighten with equal strength along the length of your leg.
- When you run, good shoes will provide a good "grip" on your heels. Your heel doesn't “slip” easily when you walk or run.
If you do the same exercise three or more times a week, you need shoes that are specific to your type of exercise. So, which shoes will you choose?
