What is breast enlargement?
Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure performed to increase the size of the breasts, which usually involves inserting a silicone bag under the breast and then filling the bag with saline water . This silicone expands the breast area to give the appearance of a fuller and more symmetrical breast.
When do I need to have breast augmentation?
Breast enlargement is done for two things, namely:
- reconstruction - reconstructing the breast after surgical removal of the breast (to treat breast cancer)
- beautify - enlargement and improvement of the appearance of the breast
The breast sac has a capsule made of silicone. The inside can be filled with silicone or saline water.
The silicone used to make breast bags can be either a liquid or a gel (sticky silicone). Liquid silicon and saline water will give the breast appearance that is natural and soft. Silicone gel will make your breasts appear firmer and more shapely.
The breast bag that is protected by polyurethane will last longer. Using this type of breast bag will reduce the risk of scarring due to the silicone gel around the breast.
Several studies have been conducted to determine whether silicone breast bags are safe or not. There is no scientific evidence to suggest that women with silicone breast bags are more prone to the risk of autoimmune diseases, such as breast cancer and arthritis.
It has been reported that there is a link between breast sac implants and a rare cancer called anaplastic large cell lymphoma, but the chance of this risk is very low.
