Calculating the expiry date of makeup based on its type & bull; hello healthy

As with food, beauty products also have a shelf-life. However, cosmetic companies are not required to include an expiration date on each of their products.

Don't worry, several large companies have now included a variety of information about the production period along with the expiration date on each product package. If you pay attention, there are many symbols printed on the packaging relating to the shelf life of the product and letters such as "M" which symbolize Month or "Y" for Year. The code “12 M”, for example, means that the product will last for 12 months from the time the packaging is opened for the first time. Another with the symbol of a container with a lid; the open lid symbolizes the expiration date of the product which effectively runs after the seal is opened.

Your job as a makeup lover is to know and understand how long your favorite products can be used, even if none of the information is listed on the packaging, in order to avoid potential irritations and other skin problems.

The following is a simple guide for knowing when you should immediately replace your cosmetic equipment.

Mascara

Product shelf life: 2-3 months

When to throw it away: As soon as you notice your mascara is hard, lumpy, or smells strange.

For mascara matters, you can't bear to have the heart to give up your favorite mascara if it's been months. The use of mascara that opens the lid becomes a nest where bacteria gather over time. Maybe this is why you often complain of itchy and red eyes, or even stains.

Tip: Don't share mascara to avoid spreading bacteria. If required, always have a disposable brush applicator available. And remember, don't do two dyes when applying mascara.

Foundation, concealer, liquid blush

Product shelf life: 6-12 months

When to dispose of it: If components of the liquid become separated, or if the color fades.

Liquid cosmetic products generally use water-based ingredients, a favorite place for bacteria to breed. If left closed, this type of product can last up to years, but once the seal is opened, it's better to routinely replace your favorite products every 6-12 months.

Tips: Store your liquid cosmetics at room temperature and in a dry place, away from direct heat and damp places.

Lipstick & gloss

Product shelf life: lipstick 2 years, lip gloss 1 year

When to throw it away: If your lipstick dries up and feels craggy when applied, or if the gloss feels unusually sticky. Lipsticks and gloss have oils that will start to smell over time.

The water content in the lipstick is fairly low, almost non-existent, but bacterial contamination may still occur due to regular use of the product in the lip area. Not to mention if you are one of those people who likes to try various lipstick testers on the makeup counter.

Tip: There's nothing wrong with experimenting with lipstick colors, but never apply the product directly to your lips. Test a color that you find interesting on the back of your hand, or ask a salesperson for a one-time expert applicator.

Powder, solid eyeshadow, solid blush

Product shelf life: 2 years, solid eyeshadow 3 months

When to discard: Powder and all kinds of solid products will turn into a drier, coarser texture

Powdered and solid products contain a small amount of moisture from the botanical extracts which pose the risk of becoming an easy target for bacteria to multiply. As with mascara, eyeshadow products are vulnerable as a place for bacteria to grow and spread.

Note: cream blush and eyeshadow should be changed every 1 year.

Tip: Wash your makeup brushes often with a special soap or antiseptic soap that is sold freely in the market.

Nail polish

Product shelf life: 1-2 years

When to discard: If the liquid looks lumpy and sticky when applied, or the liquid in the package looks separate and doesn't mix anymore after shaking it.

Tip: To prolong the life of the nail polish, use nail polish thinner.

Perfume

Product shelf life: 8-10 years

When to throw it away: When you notice your perfume smells strange, unusual, or the color of the liquid is fading.

Tip: Bright light will oxidize the perfume in the bottle, turning the chemical components into a musty smell more quickly. Store the perfume in a cool, dark place.

Lotion

Product shelf life: 2 years

When to discard: if there is a change in color, smell, or texture.

Tips: choose a product with a pump bottle rather than in a container or tube to avoid the risk of spreading bacteria through the air. The pump bottle makes the contents of the package much more durable.

Makeup brush

Product shelf life: annual

When to throw it away: When the bristles start to wrinkle irregularly, fall out, or change the shape of the bristles.

Collection of your makeup brushes, fine products drugstore or high end , they will last for years and do not need to replace them often as long as the brushes are still functioning properly. Makeup foam, such as sponge blush or powder, should be changed every two uses (once on each side), unless beauty blender proven to be durable and easy to clean.

Tips: diligently wash your makeup brush every two weeks, or use a special sanitizer brush that you can spray every time you use a brush. For storage, set up a makeup brush with the bristles facing up in a container that is large enough so that your brush collection is not easily changed due to too tight and overlapping.
