Adult dosage for gastric ulcers

  • 40 milligrams (mg) taken by mouth once a day at bedtime.
  • Maximum drug use: 6 weeks

Adult dosage for peptic ulcers

  • 40 mg taken by mouth once a day at bedtime, or 20 mg taken by mouth twice daily
  • Maintenance dose: 20 mg orally once a day at bedtime
  • Maximum drug use: 4 weeks

Adult dosage for dyspepsia

  • Treatment dose: 10-20 mg orally once
  • Preventive dose: 10-20 mg taken by mouth once at least one hour before eating foods that can cause the chest to experience a burning sensation.
  • Maximum dose: two tablets a day
  • Maximum drug use: 2 weeks

Adult dosage for erosive esophagitis

  • 20-40 mg orally twice a day

What is the preliminary dose for children?

Children's dosage for peptic ulcer

  • For children aged 1-16 years:
    • Take 0.5 mg / kilogram (kg) of body weight once a day at bedtime, or 0.25 mg / kg of body weight orally twice a day.
    • Maximum daily dose: 40 mg / kg
  • For children 16 years and over:
    • 40 mg taken by mouth once a day before bed, or 20 mg taken by mouth twice daily
    • Maintenance dose: 20 mg orally once a day at bedtime
    • Maximum drug use: 4 weeks

Children's dosage for acid reflux disease (GERD)

  • For children aged 1-2 months:
    • Initial dose: 0.5 mg / kg orally once a day

What are the possible side effects of using Pratifar?

As with medicines in general, the use of pratatives can also cause side effects, both minor and serious. The following are mild side effects that are more common, such as:

  • Headache

  • Constipation
  • Diarrhea
  • Crying without cause (usually in children)

If you have missed a dose, take that dose immediately. But if it is time to take the next dose, skip the missed dose and take the dose as scheduled. Do not use multiple doses as this cannot guarantee that you will get well sooner.
