There are many diseases caused by fungal infections, but the most common ones include:

  • Water fleas (tinea pedis or athlete's foot): Trichophyton rubrum fungal infection which multiplies in the dead tissue of the toenails and the outer layer of the skin due to a warm, humid environment.

Symptoms of a fungal skin infection that you may be experiencing

Although the types of diseases and fungi that cause infection are different. However, the symptoms do not differ much. The following are the characteristics of a fungal skin infection that you need to be aware of, including:

1. Very itchy skin

Anyone has ever felt itchy, even when you don't have a problem with your skin. Itchy skin indicates the body's reaction to foreign substances on the skin. However, itching due to a yeast infection will be different from regular itching.

In addition to feeling worse, itching from a yeast infection will be felt more often and can spread. You may feel very irritated by the itching that appears.

2. A rash appears

Itchy skin that appears can make you stiffer because you want to keep scratching it. Within a few days, the itching feeling that you keep scratching will cause a rash. However, the rash that results from a yeast infection is generally very distinctive and can be distinguished if you pay close attention.

The rash from ringworm will look like a ring, white scaly inside and red circles around it. While tinea curis will cause a red, circular rash with slightly protruding edges1. Then, the rash from the water flea causes red, blistered skin.

3. Changes in skin texture accompanied by a disturbing hot sensation

Over time the skin rash will change the skin texture. You will feel the infected skin feeling softer, dry, scaly, raised (bouncy), or peeling. Apart from itching and redness, the infected part of the skin also feels hot.
